Largely positive. Be nice to have Gaskell back especially with JL away. Brookes and Young is a plus and I'm hoping Fekitoa makes it. Not sure how the 6N works in terms of the release of players - is it feasible Umaga could be released back?

Don't think we'll get them back this week as they'll all be in camp.  (Unless we get them back on crutches after Eddie's broken them!)

Umaga, Ford and Farrell are the only 10s in the squad, and no Slade there as a back up option, so I'd imagine Jacob would be retained during match weeks in case of injury, but possibly released for Tigers and Irish games which are on non-match weeks in the 6N as Eddie may want him playing for Wasps if he's not seen any action for England at that stage.  Same applies to Launch if selection carries on from the WC with Itoje, Lawes and Kruis in the 23.

Do you have to be capped (by England) to then be tied to representing that country for that point on.

I wonder if Wales nabbing Tomkins has something to do with the selection decision of Umaga

Yes, once you're capped you're tied to that country. So not unheard of for coaches to get dual qualified players in the squad and a run off the bench to avoid them being tempted elsewhere. Sadly if that player never gets a look in again for a tier one country, and they also qualify for a tier 2 country then they can't go back.
