One of my favourite Wasps. Sorry you didn't break the try scoring record when wearing the black and gold. All the best, Tom.

One of my favourites too. Wade one wing, Varndell the other. We, or any other team, would be hard pressed to get a pair like that ever again.

It was his try saving tackle on Sam Vesty who was prematurely celebrating, back, in the 2012 away match at Bath, that allowed us to keep a losing bonus point that, probably, saved us from the drop that year.

No-one will fully understand what it was that led to him being dropped by Dai, unless either party decide to write their memoirs.

However his wing partnership with Christian will always be remembered by Wasps fans.

Actually, I think we are half way there already! Now that he's come out of the shadow of Goneva and Sinoti, Zach's been a revelation. Here's a little reminder.

Unfortunately, players can't always bow out on their own terms. TV2 deserved to leave in a bit more style but it wasn't to be. When we had him and Wade on the wings it really was a joy to watch. An outstanding performer on the field and a top bloke off it (as my young daughter will testify).
Thanks Tom, a terrific career. Hopefully that record will be yours for a few more years to come.

We are certainly well stocked on the wings now, very promising indeed whether we get Wade/Varndell levels I don't know, but if we get most of the way there I would be well pleased. Those two were special and set a high benchmark for us to aim for.

Wade was a once in a generation player. I was watching back some of those "greatest European tries" that the club put out on social media, and he is a major force in all of them. And he was, frankly, unplayable.

We shall not see his like again for a long time in the black and gold, or indeed the league.

First saw Varndell play in an A game for Leicester v us at Adams park. He was very impressive and seriously fast. Didn't he get chopped from Tigers because they wanted someone who had a better defence than Tom?

It was Paul Sackey, as per your link, who had the car business with Kim - not Tom Varndell. ;)

He probably just wanted to come to a club who gave the ball to the backs more than twice a half. ;)

"What followed, though, was a wonder lust of roller coaster proportions. Five games for Scarlets in Wales, five more for French Pro D2 outfit Soyaux-Angouleme. Then came three outings for Championship side Nottingham, an emotional February 2019 Premiership run for Leicester and next to a stint in Hong Kong with South China Tigers. Four countries, five clubs, all in the space of a madcap 15 months before he pitched up in Leeds for one last hurrah. " Wow that is some 15 months! Would love to watch a documentary about that, what an experience
