I agree. I like the way BT handled it and deserve to keep it. It feels like it is uppermost in their priorities which means they'll hopefully continue to make a good job of it.

VV,
At the risk of sounding like a dinosaur, how do you watch Amazon on your TV?

Have you got your computer somehow connected to the haunted fishtank?

If so, how did you do that?
It doesn't look as good on a black and white though.

As an aside i'd like it to remain on BT if its apples to apples. They have my respect for the way they stood by the league during Covid and that means something to me..

I definitely think we've been spoilt having all Premiership games aired.  It's nice to be able to pick and choose, or to mix it up if one game is dull and the other looks to be decent.

I'm not sure if I have misunderstood what you meant, but have interpreted stood-by as to insinuate they have made some sort of sacrifice for the greater good? (happy to be corrected if wrong)

I'm not suggesting they haven't made a sacrifice and there was some chat about them paying niche broadcast service companies who help them broadcast the rugby despite no games to help them out with cashflow but do you not think BT have benefitted from COVID more than been penalised by it - from a Prem Rugby perspective at least? - A more captive audience to view and they've made the app available in more ways before the league resumed.
I meant in that continued to pay the clubs/PRL broadcast rights cash when nothing was being shown, not knowing if anything would be at the end of that tunnel, effectively paying for something they couldn't broadcast.  Nothing more than that.

I didn't think they did pay until it was actually back.

I believe they did continue, that's what was reported.

For people figuring how to get all these services working:

      • Sky apparently set to add Amazon Prime TV support to Sky Q boxes (already supports BT Sport (mostly), Netflix, Disney+, BBC iPlayer, etc.). Only newer/bigger Q boxes support 4k/UHD
      • Smart TVs have the software built in for many streaming services along with lots of other capabilities. LG one worked really well with Amazon (and 4k/UHD highest-definition lovely for rugby where enabled).
      • Prime TV still a bit raw, so not as intuitive or solid as Sky Sports, but pretty decent. Great feature is ability to turned off canned crowd noise and listen  to action. Wish Sky and BBC could let you turn off commentators lolz.
      • BT Sport is fiddly but great when AOK. Possibly only fully works with BT TV, so annoyingly expensive when bought elsewhere due to limitations like no recording for red button. App also has gotchas. Typical short-sighted BT...

Amazon is Prime though but is an enhanced (free delivery, video and music etc).
BT you can get through Sky and is fine. If you get through BT (BTTV) then it is as good as you should expect. You can get it free on an EE mobile contract. From the mobile you can cast it to your TV using something like Chromecast or if your mobile and TV are both a Samsung they will easily talk to each other and hey presto sparkling picture on 4k TV.
Let me tell you something cucumber

The Chromecast option with EE is £5 extra a month.

I was under the impression that when live sport was cancelled at the end of the year, BT were within their rights to recall a percentage of the money for last season.

They ultimately decided to allow the clubs to keep the money.

That was at a time when we didn't really know when any live sport was likely to return

So, I agree with hymenoptera that BT definitely seemed to play the role of the good guys.
It may be that they knew, or agreed a deal off the back of it, to allow them to show everything if sport was played behind closed doors.
However, the public message was (I think) that the clubs could keep all the TV money even when there wasn't any televised matches

Good!

I have prime and bt, and have had no problem using prime to watch any games.

However, there are some minor advantages to it staying on BT - primarily my ability to record games.

Overall, I'm glad with this outcome
