I'm in 2 minds about this.

On the one hand it's a good idea, don't just sign anybody, perhaps pushing that Lee wants to establish a culture to the squad.

On the other it makes for a painfully boring transfer window, but that's just me being selfish.

For Blackett, who only recently completed a year as a head coach and is negotiating his first 'silly season' in a top job, the key word on recruitment appears to be patience.

I thought the plan was that when Lee took over from Dai a lot of that side of the job would be taken on by the one of the other managers?

I think by negotiate he means get through not negotiating contracts etc which as you suggest Vaughan is probably doing, Lee would still need to look at the players he needs / wants and talk to them to sell his vision.

I like that we are considering signings and not rush but at the same time...... it would be nice to make a couple of statement signings for long term progression.

Also looking at Sarries signings, i have a feeling that they are gearing up for a prem return. No way is an Italian Intl choosing to play for Sarries in the champ.

Realistically we are looking at Robson, Umaga, Mills, Fekitoa, Bassett, Kilbridge, Minozzi/Crossdale?

Pack being West, Cruse, JTA (?), Launch, Gaskell, Willis, Youngs, Willis

This is assuming when all are fit and correct. Alfie not starting due to not playing hooker before and Shields on bench with Gops looking towards retirement.

Talks that Stooke will come in but still a little thin in bulky bodies and some experience.

Anyone know of any talents coming through?

We have the likes of Alfie, Willis (T), Simmonds, Porter, Cardall, Atkinson, Spink, Crossdale, Odogwu, Sirker, Umaga and Willis (J) as base of our squad for future and the likes of Monye, Nearchou, Curran, Pichardie and Cordice coming through but is there anyone else being fast tracked?

It is a balancing act, especially so with the current state of the world.

With everyone fit and firing on all cylinders, we have a pretty good squad. Physicality is the one are that concerns me. The Quins and Tigers games have demonstrated that we can struggle against these types of teams, particularly if we are a few players missing.

Our overachievement in the second half of last season, raised expectations for the current one. I would be happy for us to finish in the Top 6, this time around. The lads look fatigued and it is no surprise. 9 days off between the final and preseason is crazy. Injuries have meant that Lee has not been able to give players a rest.

Organic growth is the best route. To do that players need to be spotted at a very early age for progression through the academy. Problem is that it is not every year that the likes of the Willis Bros and Bearbeary come through the system.

My view is that we still need a gnarly top rate prop plus second row, so that we do not get bossed when it comes to the physical stuff. We could probably do with some more height in our back 3 as well.

All will be revealed in due course. In the meantime, let's home the lads give some exciting stuff to watch for the rest of this season.

TBH its been a mad season for us, over achievement last year and hella injuries this year has caused havoc. Let more youngsters bed in and Blackett time to build.

Also don't factor in Jack in the team for the beginning of next season - far too soon.

I agree with Heathen about the need for a gnarly tight head and (physical) second row - but the TRP reported we are seeking a blind side flanker?
