Only a report of our match.

Should probably ask for your money back based on that game

Thought the article on the french regulations for qualified players being tightened was good. Basically means more talent coming through, hence young blood now being seen coming to be coming through.

The talks about influx of foreign players coming into premiership especially SA’s so some teams not meeting EQP requirements, implying that due to amount under PGA agreement being reduced as it is linked to RFU profits, some clubs may forego this income.

Can see this perpetuating itself . Although Wasps is 3rd highest on Eqp list , due to our current form and seeing the lumps that have been coming into other squads which have seemed to have improved their forwards, there is possibility we will look at getting Saffers for our pack as a quick fix.

Do you not think these things are cyclical? Eqp has been a contentious point for a while. Sometimes it seems better to hoover up Englush talent, at others better to have a bunch of Saffer journeymen.

I think if you are seeking to stabilise a team that is near the bottom of the table or under performing, and you know you have a pipeline of young talent in your academy it makes complete sense to bring in some big nasty lumps to shore things up until your youngsters are ready. Given that NZ & Aus players don't always transition well, Saffers are always seen as the way to go.
It worked for Sarries, Sale & Glozzer & seems to be working for Tigers to a point.

Trade off with SA is yes the players transition better, but they're still selectable for internationals. If we spend a lot of money on a marquee player I want them around as much as possible and would prefer them to be retired from internationals.

and its also a trade off of making sure your foreign mercenaries aren't hindering your youngsters.
Tricky business this coaching malarky!

I must admit, fine players though some of them are, I find the never ending flow of SA imports a bit soulless. Teams like Lei and Sale are just fully stacked. I'd rather have a couple of seasons developing our own with just the odd Fekitoa here and there.

We're biased, but I think our own SA imports have been great - WLR was quality to watch on his unplayable days, Ashley was a Wasps legend in his own right, Carr a brilliant addition to threw himself into things and JdeJ is often in the middle of things with lots of energy and laughter.

We should be a little careful with the mud we sling.

Did we have 4 in a starting team at some point?

If we do get hougaard and he qualify/gets British passport next year does that mean he’s part of our EQP?

Sadly not.  As he's played for the Boks he can't be English qualified.

Saw an article saying "Wasps to sign South African Scrum Half from Premiership rivals" and thought "wow - didn't think Sale would let Faf go".

Then read the rest of the article.

He wouldn't count as an EQP, but more importantly wouldn't count as one of our two overseas players in a matchday squad, or require a work permit. I know Jimmy applied for British Citizenship last year, as did Smashley.
