I find this hard to believe, he had a chance to leave, especially for international duty, but he didn't. I don't know if he'd leave Wasps just for Dai....

He has openly said he courted contracts from the Welsh regions as he had international aspirations still, but none were forthcoming so he renewed with Wasps.  So wouldn’t be a surprise that his Dad would be able to find a contract that works for his Son, who deserves one of merit as much as anything else.

Tricky one.  That being said, sentimentally I wouldn’t want him to leave.  But think we’ve got enough Back Row talent to fill the void.

Big debate with the Mrs about this; I feel he hasn’t hit the same sort of form in the past few seasons as he has had previously.  She thinks he’s a real grafter and we’d miss his work rate.  I agree about him being a grafter, but think other members of the back row squad get through a lot of grunt work as well.

On the one hand I think this is a rather predictable space filler for TRP,  but on the other I doubt Bobby will have put out a story so quickly if it didn't have legs. I guess time will tell as to whether it's true or not.

As said above, when all are fit, we have the best back row squad in the league, if not in the UK.

Willis, Willis, Barbeary, Shields, Young, Fifita, Carr, Morris ........

And this is where the Welsh rules suck. If a player isn't offered a contract in a Welsh region he shouldn't be penalised for that and should be eligible for Wales, a player who leaves or turns down a contract is a different matter.

A whole heap coming up through the ranks behind Curran as well.

Tough one. The allure of international caps is a major motivator but two things work against Young; next season he’ll be 30 years old so not exactly in his prime (although that didn’t stop Rowlands) but also Wales are well stocked with talent in the back-row (Navidi, Wainwright, Faletau, Tipuric, Moriarty to name but a few and that’s ignoring the young talent coming through).

Yes Wasps have got immense quality and young talent but I sure hope we see YY in black & gold beyond next summer.

I'd be sad to see him go, because at his best he's very good indeed.  But I wouldn't begrudge him the chance to make more money, or push for international recognition, or just be closer to his family.  He's been a great servant to the club, and I hope he continues to be for years to come.  But if not I'll wave him off with gratitude.

Pretty much sums it up for me.

If he goes I imagine it will be with the blessing of the vast majority if not all. We shouldn't be in any doubt though that if he does go we are losing a very, very good player. Our back row is incredibly strong but probably has less 7's than 6's or 8's.

He'd certainly get my blessing - you can't deny the guy wanting to move back closer to home, increasing his chances of international selection and also working under his Dad again. He's given a lot to Wasps during his time here.
