The boat sailed for the RFU when the game went professional. Central contracts should have been established there and then. Clubs would then have been abled to recruit and/or develop players as appropriate.

A real bug bear of mine. It’s just ridiculous that the wage paying clubs don’t get to play some of their highest earners for so many league games. It’s completely insane.

England players missing for half a season? So what’s new? When you factor in Eddie’s ability to destroy form and fitness, a club is bloody lucky to get half a season from their England internationals in any year.

Surely it was just lucky that they were able to field over half of the Lions pack and several of the squad backs too? They must have just liked playing on plastic in N London so much?
