Premiership Rugby Cup campaign - five things we learned.

Report from Bobby Bridge.

We secured victories over Northampton Saints and Worcester Warriors but suffered defeats to Saracens and Sale Sharks. Not quite enough to qualify.

I didn't realise that Charlie Matthews put in as big a shift as that. Well done Charlie. Hope you continue starting in the league.

The top 2 represent where we are low on numbers at the moment.

Seeing Jimmy down at the bottom makes for sobering reading

That's what struck me and neither him or Booj disgraced themselves.

Why? He is injured and coming back. A bit too keen on his return and thumping his shoulder. Look forward to seeing him more as a bit part player than before but he will be there. Of course if the much touted Wasps training and conditioning curse pontificated on by many hits him then I could be wrong again.

Highlights for those who haven't seen the tries

A couple of Lima's passes, particularly the one that put Marcus in for his second try, were really very good indeed.

He flung the ball very hard at Watson, who did well to hang on to it.

Lima had a good day at work. He had lost the nervousness and you could see he was having fun.

Charlie had a really good game. I even saw him dodge a tackle. Was that a side-step? I think it was.

The highlights don't show the blistering burst through the centre of the backs by Nemo. It was pure art. The timing, the pass. It was such a shame that he didn't quite score.

I think that may have been Marcus's third try. And yes he did well to hang on to it but that's his job.

It looked like he was trying to skip Watson.

Or he expected Watson to be further away. I get what you mean, the pass doesn't match the distance Watson is away from Sops.

It appeared to me that Charlie Mathews was calling the shots at the line outs.

I doubt that responsibility would be given to someone who wasn’t going to play next week.

He played very well and I agree with BB that it was the best game he has played for Wasps.

Prem Cup threw up some decent positives for us I think. Vailanu, Matthews, Cardall, Kibirige and Le Bourgeois all staked a claim in amongst the already established names. Sopoaga and Fekitoa have got some game time and we've got a serious extra option at full back.
