Nakarawa
« on: December 06, 2019, 11:47:28 AM »
The Fijian superstar lock of Racing has just been sacked for returning late after World Cup duty.

We are short in that position and without Joe during the 6N we often look like we are short of quality.

If we are under the cap, is it possible that Dai is asking Derek for some extra funds spared from Garrett and Neal to add some real superstar ability alongside Joe?

Nice thought but Dai said publicly last week that although we are under the cap we have no available funds so expect him to be West Country bound (or the EAs now they are in the clear)

Wouldn’t be the first time a DoR said there wasn’t funds for a signing, often helps with the agent talk and getting a few pounds off that salary if the player/agent doesn’t think the club has as much money as they actually do.

Would also say that Nakarawa is one of those players that you spend the money on if you can spare it- he’s that good.

I don't read too much into the "no funds" messages coming out of Wasps.  I'm sure if the right player becomes available at the right price then funds will materialise.  As said above, publicly proclaiming that you have cash to splash around does little to help your negotiating position.

I think he will be going to Sale, if we jump in then the price will go up.
It was fine when I left it.....

If the coaching team think we need another lock, and he genuinely is available then it won't be money that stops us getting him.

I'd be concerned about why he's been released though. Is he a disruptive influence?

Have Racing got more second rows than they need. Interesting that they have sacked him. Was in just for coming back late from the RWC?

Not fluent in French for the press release but according to the captions that’s the reason. There were no stories of being a disruptive influence at other clubs either.

Not going to Sale, too cold apparently, which is kind of ironic as Paris isn't the warmest in the winter and neither is Glasgow.....I would bet on Japan, huge wads of cash suddenly make it warmer!

Yep Glasgow are likely to get him. Interesting that the article above mentioned we were after him. Wonder how much of that was true. Also potentially means they are looking for injury cover for Rowlands, Flament and Gaskell. Good call.
