Today's random Law application is "Scrum Time"

Some quite bizarre "decisions"

This is a bit like a vegan sausage roll. It’s better than nothing, but it’s not great is it.... at the moment seeing some positives but the game is sloppy from both sides.

Nicky Thomas is absolutely enormous. Is he bigger than Biyi!?

Valacott’s decision making was terrible there.
Tunnel vision when the rest of the field was open.

Poor finish when the opportunity to win was there.

An absolute abject performance in second half from Wasps. We got what we deserved.

Slightly OT . . .  Biyi isn't the biggest in the squad = he lost 2 to 3 stone a year ago'.  Joe, Jeff and a couple more out-weigh him.

Too much whistle.  Couldn't see what half of them were for. Irish players seemed as baffled as ours at some of Smales' decisions. He seems to me to be indecisive. At least once I heard him say to Irish - "I think it went forward in the tackle". Not assertive.

We can’t buy a win these days. Another Ill disciplined performance. Can’t win giving that many penalties away. Turnover the tv, just in time to see Ben Youngs take the ball back into our 22 then hoof it straight out on the full. Now Farrell giving the ref verbals. Depressing all round for a Wasps and England fan these days !

Only surprise from that result is that we didn't lose by double figures.

Pros of the game:
I thought out defence was pretty good. How long were we defending in our 22? I was impressed that we only conceded 1 try.
T Willis and Shields put in a big shift and look as if they leave everything on the pitch.
Jacob was brighter, maybe 75% of his best.
I thought Porter played alright.
Kirbirige looked bright and made some good tackles, don't think he missed one.

Cons:
After a bright couple games Jeff is a massive liability, I think his penalty count for the season is now 15!
Vellacott slowed down the game and made a couple errors
Penalty count was double what it should be
Most importantly too many unforced errors, looked like school boy rugby...

We are close to playing well, we just looked frustrated at the moment. Cut out the penalties and tighten up the hands and we will be set!

That was very frustrating. Endless, endless penalties. You just can't give away as many penalties as we continually do and even hope to get into games. We've effectively spent two games in our own 22. Occasionally we break out and find a way to infringe. Utter frustration. Blackett should call off training and make them read the laws all week. Our drop off at 9 without Robson is huge. Absolutely no fluency in our attack. Defence looked OK but that was because that's all we did.
