Teams Up for Glaws - Rob Starts, Matteo on the Bench
« on: March 05, 2021, 11:57:07 AM »
Lee Blackett has named his Wasps side to host Gloucester Rugby at Ricoh Arena in Gallagher Premiership Round 12 on Saturday.

There are four changes to the starting line-up from the game against London Irish last time out.

Malakai Fekitoa returns to the side at outside centre. The only other alteration to the back line sees Rob Miller start at full back.

There is one change to the back row, where Thomas Young is back to start at seven, alongside captain Brad Shields and Tom Willis.

Gabriel Oghre starts at hooker and is joined in the front row by Tom West and Jeff Toomaga-Allen.

Paolo Odogwu and Dan Robson are still away with England for their Six Nations campaign.

Interesting team.

Obviously we didn't get Paolo back either.

Very happy with that. Miller return is long overdue. The addition of Young and Fekitoa adds a bit more quality for us. Interesting to see Oghre start at hooker with Taylor out altogether. Maybe a nod to the future.

Paolo has missed Wasps’ last five games and the round 12 match against Gloucester will be his sixth. He hasn't played for 8 weeks!

Agreed and I would question if he was even bench fodder but the rumours were he was being released.

Fully expecting Eddie to say that Paolo is too knackered to be released as holding tackle bags has really taken it out of him...

Under the circumstances, I think that's as good as anything we could hope for, just hope we can start an upward trend in performance.

Looks good on paper , hope it clicks.

Surprised how appearances seem to rack up . Porter already on 27 . Wonder how many are as starter?

Don't worry, he'll be great when he finally returns to Wasps. Having weeks and weeks without any game time really doesn't matter, look how well the Saracens player are performing for England.

Oh, hang on....

Don't get Paolo  not being released. Still think Umaga is off the pace.

Oghre over Cruse is an interesting one. Think I would have had Morris on the bench, he always puts himself about.

I just hope we score some points this week.

Oghre over Cruse may be about trying to manage Cruse's minutes more than anything else.

I think that I, too, would have prefered Morris on the bench rather than Vailanu.

Good to see TY back and note that Brad keeps the captaincy.

Rob at 15 probably gives us more security in the back field.

Tomorrow is a must win. Lose and a long spell in the bottom 3 becomes a distinct possibility with Bears, Falcons and Sharks to come over the next 3 weeks. The Euros for  one or two weks and then Chiefs.

His first game was against Sale back in November 2016 ... strange how that was four & a half years ago! Anyway to answer your question, he’s started 6 games so far (4 of which were this season).
