Sometimes I wonder why we play a fly half.

Can you imagine Marcus Smith letting play go on around him like our 10s do.
Nothing against Atkinson, we’re obviously playing off 9 and waiting for Willis or Barbeary to make a break but it isn’t working.
Atkinson needs to take control and play like he did in the last ten mins last week and get a bit of tempo. Porter might help that but doesn’t have the control of Wusty - should just play Hougaard at 9 and get Miller or Crossdale on the wing.
Hougaard probably our best player so far though

That's exactly the problem, we play off 9 and after Dan there's a drop off in game making quality at 9. No wonder I see Atkinson involved in everything else. Because he's not been coached to control the game like Smith, he's doing what he's told.

I imagine Atkinson isn’t up to full fitness…and we’re protecting his knee by playing the game around him, rather than through him.
He’s been out for ages.
No way to play against Leicester….but it really feels like Wasps are trying to compete, whilst also look after a number of players hanging in there by a thread.

If that’s the case, I really feel for both players and staff.

Punching a player is a red card (especially in the head). Contact with the eye area is a red card.

So why the hell isn't a mix of both a red card?

My thought too. It looked like a red all day long. You can't retaliate by hitting someone in the head on purpose, especially when/if you've lost the plot.....

Let's face it, the 7 points we've got were pretty fortunate with the clearing kick touched in flight and falling nicely for Wasps, suddenly finding themselves on side. Even at 15 v 14 we were second best. One real sustained spell of pressure and butchered it. Scrum is diabolical. Add in Ford's missed kicks and we're very lucky to be in this. But half time we have to take it as a positive that we are still in it. Go again 2nd half, ideally without the handling errors and aimless kicking (the scrum isn't going to fix itself) and we could make a game of it.

No question for me however that Genge went in with at least one finger extended in the direction of Hougaard's eye. Should've been red.

Can Genge be cited or disciplined post-match or does the yellow end the matter?

Good to see Gaskell back.

2 yellow cards and we don’t score a single point. We had to make a change at 9 very poor game today.

We have got to get another 9

Based on the massively increased tempo, it would seem that what we've been lacking for months has been Gaskell...

If that doesn’t raise the confidence levels nothing will.
