Tom Rees went into medicine after retiring early through injury.  Not sure if this was something he had already been pursuing alongside professional rugby or whether he only set out on that path once injury put paid to his rugby career.

Jamie Roberts (Wales and just about everyone else) is a fully qualified doctor as well.

Jamie Roberts qualified as a doctor while playing for Cardiff, Wales, and the Lions!

Tom's parents are Doctors.

He spruced up his science A levels whilst at Wasps and started Medicine proper after his Medical Retirement [Dai's first game in charge against Agen in a friendly].

When I was contemplating a career in medicine 55+ years ago, you needed a Latin O level before being accepted for med school😲

Great news. Well done to lad and to Masi for getting him into wasps in the first place.

Wonder what he’s been up to this season if he’s already an U18 graduate but we’re signing him for next season?

Gap year or change of uni or something maybe?

Seems like we're extending contracts/signing up lads into the academy to fill in 'problematic' positions in the second row and centre.  Great work.

Last season, we didn't parachute in any expensive players. We let go (or lost) some expensive players. Those that did come in, many have done well, like Fifita and Stooke. Fifita did too well, and is off. I wonder how that will turn out for him? Not well is my guess. However, we filled our gaps with young academy players. Long may that continue.

I recall saying we were building, and this season may not go so well. And yet, we are on the cusp of top 4. Who would have thought? So, I say, bring them on.

Pietro has only just turned 18 (November) and was in Italian U18 squad in August.

I think it's unlikely Fifita will win much silverwear while at the Scarlets but I expect the move to be a success for him and he will probably become a fan-favourite and may even become a Scarlets legend.
