Watched without sound. Very streetwise Irish team. A very tight game - 6 tries to England, but a few poor decisions in the last 10 minutes, lost by a point 37 - 36.

Entertaining game. A few brain farts and missed kicks in a close game. I think they progress though.

Both teams played like Wasps, as opposed to playing like Quins.

Champagne rugby, trying to score more than the opposition, and to heck with defence.

Cunningham-Smith seemed a bit of a weak link with numerous handling errors.

The Irish were just a little bit more solid, a little more polished and in tune.

A little bit more Leinster methinks.

A little bit more Leinster methinks.

And there is a reason for that!

Everthing in the region is a feeder into Leinster. Schools, colleges, unis.... Anything youngster fitting the blueprint knows the pathway.

In the old days Leinster were the province - not the club. Teams like Blackrock, Terenure, Old Belvedere to name but three, provided players to the province and to the national teams. Each had their own identity and coaching structures. It was the advent of the European competitions combined with 'professional' rugby that guided the Irish to decide that they would have provinces representing them in these competitions. Much of the structure was already in place.

Hence when you see the Irish age group sides, Leinster junior sides play they are already playing the same style of rugby that the national side displays.

It is also why when Leinster play in the URC they have pool of at least 60 players who all know how their game will be played.
