Worcester Bidder given Two Weeks Extra

Suspect this is down to proven RFU/PRL delay/ineptitude.

I hope it works out for Worcester and will certainly be going down to spend my money there if they get back up and running.

I have been down at Sixways many times (it is not too far for me to ride over to). Always a warm welcome and really great fans.

More likely they're not back from their Christmas/New Year hols. Ineptitude yet to kick in.

Good news indeed, hopefully we'll see our fellow stricken club in the Championship later this year.

This is the bid that the RFU rejected is it not. The Americans seemed not too bothered about rugby. Next steps?

Not sure it was ever rejected, just delayed as some of the investors were concerned at the data the RFU/PRL wanted for their fit & proper owner test. Assume that's all been agreed now & it can press ahead. Good luck to them!

The RFU rejected the deal because the American backers would not come clean about where their money was coming from. I wonder what changed? I doubt the RFU got what they wanted to see. Anybody interested in some fudge?

Apparently they still have to get agreement from the RFU. Strange statement appears to have been made that elite rugby will be played at Sixways. The RFU has the final say for England so a desire to go to the URC ain't an option.

I stand corrected. the RFGU did reject teh original offer

"The RFU said it had "put forward a number of conditions" for the prospective buyers, including commitments not to dispose of land around Sixways and the "swift" payment of rugby creditors.

"The bidders, selected by the administrators of the insolvent WRFC Trading Limited, have informed us that they are not prepared to meet these conditions, and therefore the RFU board was unable to approve their application," a statement continued.

"The RFU will now work with the administrator to enable alternative bids that would secure professional rugby at Sixways and to work together in a timetable to enable that to happen."

Not sure what would be the point of buying Warriors if they didn't have RFU approval, unless of course you want the other assets....

Isn't it the Administrator's job, legal obligation, to get the best price he can for the assets? In which case if the new owners haven't or can't pass a fit and proper persons test that shouldn't the Administrator's problem?
