I still have no idea what happened to the forums, but essentially I ended up doing a clean install in a new place and moving it across.

Got a few things to tidy up to make it look right but it does seem to be working again now!

I'm probably going to forget the wordpress section of the site and just keep it as forums. Apparently the two packages often conflict and we were lucky to get away with it as long as we did. And as I haven't written an article for ages it wasn't really serving any purpose.

I genuinely didn't realise how much this place had become part of my life.

I genuinely found myself picking up my phone to check the forums while working on my PC to mend them! It seems my subconscious mind loves this place...

Well done VV, I know haw difficult it can be debugging your own sites some time after they were written, it must be really difficult with someone else's code.
