Have sadly just heard that JPR Williams passed away today.
Legend of the Welsh game.
He played in the first international that I attended, and was often seen in my local area where he was a doctor at my local hospital.
Condolences to his family.

Sad to hear this.
He was my Senior Registrar when I was a Senior House Officer at the RNOH Stanmore. I bumped into him at an England v Wales game at Twickenham a few years back and he came and sat with the RNOH Stanmore table in one of the hospitality venues.

Sad news. JPR, Phil Bennett, David Duckham - and probably other legends from that era - all passed away within a few months of each other.

I never thought of meningitis as an old(er) persons problem, just something you look for in young people. You live and learn.

Anyway, RIP JPR, you brought us many great moments.

It's likely that JPR got me interested in rugby. Not quite a George Best-type figure but not far off, I was too young to take in what the pack did but when Wales started chucking the ball about it got my attention.
