U 20s tonight
« on: March 15, 2024, 10:07:31 PM »
What an amazing second half in the game down in Pau.

England U20 were 21-5 down at HT. Unbelievable second half in which they scored 6 tries to win 45-31 and take the U20 VI Nations title.

Even more impressive is that there are shades of how Eng played at HQ last week.

The production line is well and truly rolling.

Magnificent [just watching it after a night at the opera!] victory.
How they dealt with the French power, how sharp they were with turnover ball.
Epic.

Give them all a big breakfast and send them out to play the full French side. The French U20 team had c 250 games of Top 14 experience, and Tuilagi has played 3 games for the full French team. The English guys had c 20 games in the Premiership, with the ex-Wasp loose head having 8 of them.

The second row and back row were unbelievable. Michelow [sounds a bit French to me] at No8 was extraordinary - another Sarries 8.

Great entertainment value, if this afternoon's games are only half as good they'll be worth watching.

The U 20s usually play excellent games, don't they.  So keen, and raring to go.

An enjoyable game to watch, but Wales were poor.

Ireland v Scotland got a bit tedious. Scotland lacked ambition and kicked the ball away far too much, they looked as if they were hoping something might happen.

England game was a corker.
For most of the last few years England have been held back by Farrell. Test match animal! Without him at 10 or 12 England can develop a plan of attack  as they have begun to do this 6n.

Probably England's best attacking display since well before EJ.

It was also great to see the France of old slinging the ball around in their own 22 and going the length of the field.

Cracking game and some of the best tries of the tournament.

My enjoyment of the game is being restored.

Italy superb, late consolation points for Wales made it look respectable. It really wasn't, and Italy finally have something to build on.

He shimmied down the field like a 'Strictly' winner.  I really enjoyed watching them.  Wales  will get  there, but not just yet. Good to see Will's try.

Mr Grumpy.

Saw Mr Edwards interview in the highlights prog yesterday. Most ungracious individual.

Slated his team as having given the worst defensive display in his tenure. Not one mention of England whatsoever.

I met Shaun at HP about 3 weeks after he had left, and he was incognito; I didn't recognize him in ''civvies''.  I  must say that he was absolutely lovely, unlike Fiver.  He was trying to  be unseen but realising his cover was blown he put a finger to his lips and said ''I'm  not supposed to be here!''.  And we had about 5 minutes or so conversation covering Wasps and the RFU, during which he was very polite about them.  Must have been an effort to do that at that time.  Also, he has a lovely smile, kind eyes and was charming.  But had  I been a rugby player I would have DEFINITELY done whatever he said.
