Yes, as I understand the rules, he can be nominated as the home marquee player.

I suppose the question is whether he is earning more than George Ford or Dan Cole, which are 2 positions that traditionally are the higher earners in a club.

Dan Cole's best is behind him now, but that rarely affects salaries.
George Ford was first choice England fly half so is likely on a good salary too.

I suspect neither are on £600k though. It's only in the last couple of years that salaries like that have been considered

The signing of Ford from Bath would have probably made him the marquee player, I presume Manu hasn't previously be nominated as a marquee?

Who would be their current "foreign" marquee.. Toomua? Isn't he leaving at the end of this season?

Would he become the "home" marquee player? Do the rules allow him to be? If not, that's a huge chunk out of their salary cap

I think they do.  One who has been at the club for a stretch of several years, and one new to the GP.

If Tuilagi had stayed fit, would Cockerill still be head coach?

Hard to say really. I can't remember what killed Cockerill off - was it results or his relationship with players?
If it was the latter, it may have made no difference.

Wasn't it Mauger that killed him off..Tigers needed a scapegoat for their poor results.

Could be - I seem to remember Mauger not doing well now

Cockers was sacked before an Xmas.. the backs coach, Mauger, then came in as temporary DoR and was duly sacked at the end of the season (despite guiding them back to 4th.. albeit quite a few points from 3rd), Matt Connor was then signed and sacked a season and 1 week later.

I think Cockers was sacked purely down to results.. the were lying mid to low able at the time and suffered 2 massive euro defeats.. here were rumours he had "lost" the dressing room and senior players wanted him out
