He has more or less put to bed the idea of Head Coach + Director of Rugby.

Dai has far from denied it. I'm looking at this very positively and I'm sure if the money is right Shaun won't give a hoot what title he is given.

To play this down a bit, I'd say that Dai is a very clever guy and is used to dealing with the media these days and not giving much away.

If he flat out denies this story, but then doesn't deny others then it fuels more speculation in the future

By playing it cagey regardless of the rumour, he keeps the stories consistent.

I certainly wouldn't want to play poker with Dai

I'm sat with everything crossed hoping that one or both of Edwards and Worsley may be around next season... From Dai's comments I guess he is/has been moving heaven and earth to try and get the right coaching staff in.  If Edwards has been targeted then that is a huge thumbs up from me!

Story has now been picked up by the Daily Telegraph's Rugby Digger column, with RiL and Andy Goode being namechecked.

As an aside the DT also say that: "Wasps have reportedly emerged as the front runners to sign New Zealand winger Waisake Naholo after the World Cup. London Irish are also interested. New Zealand news website stuff.nz reports that the 27 year-old will join fellow All Blacks and Highlanders alumni Lima Sopoaga and Malakai Fekitoa in Coventry for the 2018/19 season."

I don't know how up to date the latter news is.

Interview before the match Dai not saying no. Being respectful of people currently in contracts. Pitch side discussion suggests it might be on.

He apparently signed or agreed a pre-agreement with Wigan. They have a "temporary" coach that they have said they might be happy with. He certainly seems to have flexibility. Here's hoping.

He states he's not signed anything. He's got a verbal agreement with them, but really doesn't seem to think that he's locked in, in anyway.

Well this is good, increases the possibility of it happening. At some point some things will go our way. I wonder how much an ambitious player would value being able to learn from people like him, same for front rows with Dai. Leinster appeared to be a mess a couple of years ago...

According to the RL Reporter on BBC Radio 5, Shaun has said that he has not signed a contract & hasn’t heard from Wigan for a while.
