England tighthead Kieran Brookes is set to make his comeback from injury this Saturday as Wasps A host Leicester Tigers A in the Premiership Rugby Shield at Broadstreet RFC (kick-off 2pm).

The big prop has been absent through an ankle injury sustained back in December and is named among the replacements, while fellow first-teamer Alex Rieder will start after making his comeback from injury in Monday night’s win at Northampton Wanderers.

The pair are two of nine first-team players in the side as Ross Neal, Michael Le Bourgeois, Tom West, Antonio Harris, Charlie Matthews and Joe Atkinson start, with Simon McIntyre on the bench.

Cameron Anderson, Taju Atta and Callum Sirker form the back three with Neal and Le Bourgeois in the centres, while Will Porter skippers the side from scrum half next to Jacob Umaga at fly half.

In the pack, West and Harris are joined by Academy tighthead David Langley with fellow youngster Tim Cardall joining Matthews in the second row. Rieder and Atkinson line up next to James Seabrook in the back row.

On the bench Wasps have guest player Ollie Fox from Yorkshire Carnegie while Under 18s star Tom Bacon could also feature.

Entry to the match is FREE for Season Ticket holders while being £5 for adults (including parking) and FREE for under 16s.

Interesting we play Cameron at full back and Scotland play him at centre. Another utility back!

Strong side - especially at prop on the bench!

Hope some more hands are held up for first team selection

Any idea where is Owain James?  I've wondered if he is ready/good enough to step up next season but no sign of him in this squad.

Wonder if Hampson picked up an injury last weekend.

Good to see Atta get a start as well as West. Seabrook and Langey you’d hope have a good game as they’re running out of time to impress for senior contracts (although Seabrook might have another year at uni, not sure)

If anyone goes I’d be keen to see how Curran goes in the back row when he comes on. Absolute beast at u18 level but been injured a fair bit this season I believe, be interested to see how he fairs physically alongside the bigger boys.

James did his ACL around Xmas, only recently just back walking on it I believe.
Big shame as hoped he’d have had a chance at FB/wing this season

Thanks, JohnnyD.  I missed that news.   I hope he comes back from that ok.  He looked like he was getting close to the first team squad.
