ECC Quarter Finals
« on: March 30, 2019, 08:58:22 PM »
Confirmed to be at the Ricoh!

A great boost to the coffers and another example of how the business is bigger than just the 1st team games.

And with Heineken being one of our own sponsors/suppliers it should be a good take for us.

I really hope so. I'd really like to see us start to repay some of Derek's investment in the club.

He saved my team, I hope he at least gets a nice yacht out of it. :D

How are the match day takings distributed in this case.
Do Munster and Sarries get a take of the gate receipts, takings at the bars or does that all go to Wasps?

I'd guess there is a sharing system. I seem to remember that when we got to the Semis we got some of the money from that game despite it being in Reading.

That's great, currently enjoying Racing v Toulouse with a glass of red after completing mothers day duties.

Edit - and what an enjoyable 2hours!

Been discussed before but why the hell do Leinsterget to play the semi at the Aviva? Every other team has to play at a neutral ground  but not Leinster.

Very entertaining game. Looking forward to a trip to Paris La Défense Arena at some point in the future!

We played a QF at the Ricoh, I guess it's to do with capacity?

No the Quarters ARE at your home ground. The Semis are supposed to be at a neutral ground within the country of the seeded team - hence Sarries @ Ricoh. If Racing had won it would be at another rugby ground in Paris but year after year Leinster are allowed to call the Aviva a neutral ground. There is Croke Park and Thomond Park that would meet that criteria. Leinster play their quarter yesterday at their home ground for big games - the Aviva and get to play their Semi at the nearest neutral; ground - the Aviva???

Same as Cardiff used to do with Millennium / Principality (couldnt get any closer!) and Tigers used to do with Walkers / King Power, you are allowed to select an appropriate stadium in your country as long as it is not your designated home one irrespective of distance from it.

Agree but the point is those stadiums are not used by the teams you quote whereas Leinster regularly use the Aviva as their home pitch.

Including yesterday they have played 3 games at Aviva this season.

My point. They do it every season so not a level playing field.

Is 3 games the cut off or 2 or 1? 1 would theoretically rule out a number of stadiums for teams such as St James for Falcons, Olympic for Saracens and Twickenham for a number of teams as well as Principality for Welsh teams.
