That's fast, but isn't too fast for NFL backs.

What it doesn't show is his ability to maintain speed whilst at the same time changing direction or side stepping  (as many Premiership players who have tried to stop him will testify).

4.53s for 40yd dash. That's quick enough.

Shame the decision to drop his Wasps contract wasn't as quick...

When Christian was younger he use to train with my nephew. Christian had blistering speed over a short distance. His ability to reach top speed was very quick, which is why he was so difficult to stop.

He was very good at 100m and 200m but not so good at 400m. My nephew couldn’t match him at 100m but was able to beat him at 400m.

In rugby you don’t need that longer distance pace. 0-60 is where it counts and he was brilliant at that, especially has he could change direction at ease.

Very sad he left

Also re top speed from this in 2017

https://www.sportsjoe.ie/rugby/christian-wades-top-speed-leaves-irish-hopefuls-dust-147787

Quote
"He's going about 11 metres per second [at top speed] and I don't think any other rugby player is touching that. The really, really quick guys would be getting 10.5 or 10.6 while Christian is regularly getting 11 and sometimes hitting 11.1 and 11.2. He's an ex-sprinter and he's a guy who should have plenty more England caps."

Quote
Brendan Macken spent six months on loan with Gloucester and played alongside another notorious speed merchant within the England set-up - Jonny May [10.49 MPS]. Asked who would win a 50-metre sprint between May and Wade, Macken did not hestitate when responding, "Mr Wade!"

I'd have loved to see a flat sprint between him and TV2 at his peak.

Possibly, but I don't buy him being faster than either Wade or TV2 for a second...

As said befor change of speed and direction is Wades thing though isn't it. Monye said in the interview that he had a faster 100m than the time Wade gave, but by Monye's own words, he was more a power runner.
