Wade and The NFL

Interesting article talking about Christian Wade and Valentine Holmes and their NFL prospects.

https://raisingzona.com/2019/04/04/arizona-cardinals-should-consider-two-rugby-stars-to-bolster-the-roster/

Now with the correct link, sorry.

Well, he's on the radar at least. Glad they noted his acceleration and balance. There must be a better video clip to show what Wade can do though.

Posted on Instagram that he's signed for the bills.

Not quite as exciting as I first thought, but he's still in there.

According to the been, he's been signed, but isn't part of their roster.

He can train with them pre-season, and then if selected for their roster, he can train with them next season with a view to playing the season after.

Still a long way to go for him

Good luck Christian

I often listen to radio 5 live in the early hours.  This morning there was a long interview with Christian about how he is getting on.  Very good listen.  You can hear it on the bbc sounds app.  Browse to the “Up all night” program for Friday 12th April and drag the timeline to 2.12 and 30 seconds.

Best  regards

Given that the Bills have given him a contract, I assume that means he's on some kind of salary from them, even if he can't play for another season.

Does that sound right?

I can't imagine that they can give him a contract without paying him.

Obviously it won't be as much as he could earn as a player, but at least it probably means his gamble has been rewarded.

Good luck Christian

He'll be earning, but not much.

He could play this season if he impresses enough I believe, but if not, he's basically a free spot for them to keep him on the practice squad, without having to give up a regular practice squad position. So they've only got a little to lose in terms of salary.

Ok, so not exactly minimum wage then.

It's probably not a lot less than he was earning to be the league's top try scorer most years, and playing every game.

Now he's getting it for doing an apprenticeship, with a significant increase in salary if he makes the grade.

It's all he could ask for really at this stage

Same article suggested he was on £250k with Wasps and made the point he was taking a considerable drop to $100k. I am surprised that Wade was on so little with Wasps as he had been through many contract renewals and was our top scorer.
