Without wishing to pee on anyone's parade, it seems to me that we're back to where we were a couple of years ago, likely to score a load but fragile in defence.
No. We are fragile in some places, especially out wide. But we now regularly get great line speed so that intercept tries are even possible. We push our opposition back phase by phase. We defend our own ball better, being far less caught alone in the tackle, even driving forward in the tackle. We have far fewer missed tackles, and each player steps up and takes responsibility in defence.
We cannot stop opponents scoring against us. Our attacking style will always leave gaps and opportunities. Good sides, like Gloucester, will grab those and score. What we can't afford to do, and, in the main, no longer do, is to switch off for 15-20 minutes at a time. Our ONLY defence is attack, or preparedness to attack. A team playing us has to KNOW that, when defending, we will take every opportunity to counter attack, from wherever we are on the field. It makes them cautious. Caution breeds errors.
