Apparently you can pause your sports subscription with Sky with no penalty. Sky's website confirms this. However, this facility is not available online, and, as reported by newspapers, you will have to ring, facing up to an hour wait, in order to act on this.
I shall be doing this later, probably next week, as my wife is the  bill payer and is at work.

Thanks for the heads up, unfortunately I only have BT Sport linked in with my broadband and landline so I'm going to have to keep paying for not be able to watch any Rugby and Moto GP.

I'm in the same boat as you Coddy.. I have BT sport via the landline/broadband package primarily for rugby and Moto GP and I'm guessing the sport part can't be "paused". I also bought a week-end ticket for Moto GP at Silverstone. My fingers are crossed that by late Aug sporting events are back up and running..

Update. From tomorrow you can do it online. I have BT too and will keep paying....
