OT Season ended - except Gallagher

The Rugby Football Union has announced the end of the season for all league, cup and county rugby in England, except the Gallagher Premiership, PA reports.

They could hardly not promote Newks. After all the EAs are getting relegated regardless.

The Sarries/Newcastle down/up is easy enough.  Sarries was already confirmed and Newcastle as good as.  Can't envisage any complaints from Ealing/Pirates etc.

Problem then is what they do through the pyramid.  Yorkshire are far enough adrift at the bottom of the Championship to make that an easy call, but not so with the top of Nat 1 to replace them.  Just looked at Nat 2, and in the southern section there are 4 teams within about 6 points at the top, whereas Caldy are top of Nat 2 North with 25/25, 29 points clear with only 5 to play, so will already have believed promotion was 100% assured.  I've not looked any further down than that, but I'm sure there are other examples where promotion and relegation will be very contentious.

Agree re Newcastle and EA's

Probably time for the RFU to take soundings and take their time now - as it was always likely the games would be cancelled. Best to have clubs' agreement?

Will have to do one two hour walk with our dog, rather that the morning and afternoon ones. Bought a Davenport at auction last week for restoration. No excuse for not doing an A1 job! Cannot send my wife out on one of them as she is high risk on two counts.
