I had hoped for another year. I confess to wiping away a few tears on reading this. What a wonderful man and player.

A shame but I guess almost inevitable. What is a shame is he doesn't get a good send off......

What bacdoc said. Ash is an icon and an all-time favourite, a pleasure to watch and a super person. There  are going to be so many broken hearts - and not just children's.  So sad that he is leaving, but hope that everything will turn out well for him and his family. Thank you, Ash, for everything you have done for Wasps; you gave your all for each and every match,  Irreplaceable.

What a shame. A real cult hero, lovely guy and wonderful player. He should go done as one of the Wasps greats. Thanks for everything Ash and good luck in whatever you choose to do next.

Wife's favourite she's going to be devastated.

I've now got to go and tell her and it's nearly dinner time  ;-)

Any suggestions on how to break this bad news?

Good luck Ashley. Tremendous servant to the club. I thought we might get another year but in reality there is stellar competition in his chosen positions. Hopefully when we get back underway he can attend a home game for the send off he deserves.

Sad but, when you look at our pool of hookers and ditto for the back row, there is a sense of inevitability.

Great servant. Tremendous in the community and the kids favourite.

Ashey, you will be missed. Best wishes in whatever you choose to do next.

That’s one seriously sad piece of news. Have always loved watching the man play and always felt a huge lift when I’ve known he’s on the park. A buzz to see him, ball in hand rampaging at an oppo’s defenders. As with Christian (in a different sort of way), you expected excitement and things to happen.
The very best of luck to you Ash and your family in whatever you do next. Thanks for all the great things you’ve done for us.

Had hoped for another year and maybe a move into coaching.  Always sad to see such popular, loyal and committed players as Ash leave.  They normally get a suitable send off at the end of the season and it is a crying shame he will be denied that.  As suggested above, I hope that once we are all able to get back to the Ricoh that he and his family can be invited to a game to get the send off he undoubtedly deserves.  Now off to tell the wife and kids.  Wish me luck!  :'(

A real shame, a modern Wasps icon. Thank you for all you have given in the black and gold

That's really disappointed me.

I still remember his intercept and try at Adams Park, against Saints, I think. A great moment among many others.

Good luck to Ashley and his family.
