Rumour on DW that he may have signed as a coach for Coventry. Would make sense if true.

If that is indeed true it would be excellent for him, and his family - but not , maybe, as financially rewarding as S. A.

Me and my wife will miss him but wish him all the best in the future. Just really sad we could not give him a proper send off. You always knew when Ash was on the pitch you got 100% commitment.

This echos my sentiments quite nicely.  He deserved a proper goodbye, he'd sure as hell earnt it.  A thoroughly lovely bloke on and off the pitch.  Boundless energy and positivity and loved watching him play.

Well we used to 'nick' all their decent players, but this would hurt!

This was a rumour late last year. Interesting and would mean uprouting his family which I don't think he wants to do but I suppose needs must. Much prefer the Coventry coaching rumour!

Coventry RFC reported to have lost c.£750k (??) this season and have subsequently off-loaded a number of players.

I wouldn’t have thought they could afford Ashley.

Both clubs could do with developing their links with each other.

When did he last play hooker?  For the last couple of seasons at least he had reverted to back row, and only covered hooker in emergencies.  Not sure he'd be a replacement for Webber.  I always preferred him at 6.

This is the end of a ritual during my car journey to the Ricoh. Everytime we hit the M42 my six year old always asks "Is AJ playing today?"

Very sad he is leaving. One of my favourite players. The hard lines he hit off the 9, epitomised in the try he scores against Chief in the highlights video above. Pretty much unstoppable.
