Levi Douglas, TJ Harris and Thibaud.....
« on: October 05, 2020, 01:15:09 PM »
....have now left Wasps so says Wikipedia (Premiership rugby signings page).

Levi and TJ released. Thibaud has left for Toulouse.

Good luck to all three (if that’s the case).

with Launch & Rowlands expected to be away for international periods I'm surprised they didn't keep Levi Douglas. I think that leaves only 4 locks when those two are away or am I forgetting someone?

I would expect Gaskell & Cardall to start with Edwards or Vuk on the bench?

Vukasinovic has looked good when I've seen him.  Not really seen anything of Edwards yet. There's Josh Fenner in the academy.  Not seen much of him either, but he'll turn 22 in Jan, so towards the senior end of the academy and will need to start getting 1st team chances sooner rather than later.  Not sure if he's loaned out for next season.

I'm surprised we haven't seen more of TV3 to be honest, he's only played a couple of times and looked very good on both outings.  Maybe we're just trying to bulk him up a little...

He certainly does look pretty lean and wiry, but so does Gaskell.

It’s being reported that Rowlands is on his way to the Dragons so perhaps we are looking to bring in an experienced second row - there seems to be a lot of Saffers looking for NH clubs - and see how Edwards and TV develop?

Whilst Cardall is very promising he is still a relative youngster and  I’m not sure he has the experience to be first choice yet.

I suspect the Wikipedia article is pre-empting the seasons end at the moment as all the links they use are from when either the loans were announced, or for Flament when his move was announced.
Not that is reality its going to make any difference apart from squad training numbers now.

Congratulations to Will who was just announced as part of the Wales squad this morning. Unfortunately for us, this probably just reaffirms his imminent departure from Wasps. Bitter sweet ...

I have a sneaky feeling Joe might be with us more than we think. He's been bit part internationally for the best part of a year. Even so if WR departs we will need one in to replace him - albeit I've been really impressed by Cardall.

I don’t think Douglas offers us any more than Cardall and if Cardall fits the role at 4 then Vukasinovic definitely works at 5 as the Wiley lineout operator.
We don’t need another 5th or 6th choice lock we need someone to be first choice. Gaskell has had his injuries and Joe could be away. Someone physically big to match Rowlands’ 6ft8 reach in the lineout and physicality around the place - Du Plessis still works for me even if it was a rumour created here

True, but with Kruis gone & Lawes out injured who will be partnering Itoje?
I can only think of Ewells who has been on Eddies radar and he likes a second row at 6 sometimes so will need 4 or 5 locks in his squad

I'm hoping Jones is keeping up with how the game is evolving as 3 SRs with such a need for pace around the pitch and pace to breakdown would not be positive (IMO - so who cares  ;D) ) in terms of turnovers and possession

I'd be expecting Jones to be looking at flankers.....like Jack, but then again, I thought Wade was a shoe in!
