Rounds 8 - 10
« on: September 07, 2021, 12:11:41 PM »

Wasps' fixtures for Gallagher Premiership Rounds 8-10 have been confirmed.

Wasps start the block of fixtures by facing defending champions Harlequins at The Coventry Building Society Arena on Sunday 7 November at 4:30pm. The game will be live on BT Sport.

In Round 9 Wasps are at home again, this time hosting Gloucester Rugby for a Friday night clash at 7:45pm on 26 November.

The final confirmed round of fixtures, in Round 10, sees Wasps travel to Sixways to face Worcester Warriors at 3pm on Saturday 4 December.

Tickets for Wasps first four home matches of the 2021/22 season are now on sale.

Our first four home league fixtures are priced from just £17 for adults, £13 for 18–25-year-olds and only £2 for children aged 11 and under. We also have great matchday prices for supporters aged 17 and under, over 65, as well as fans working in the blue light services and those serving in the military!

Paying for the footy now.

Kind of begins to bring into question a little the value of a ST.

I think this will always be a difficult balancing act and I feel for those who live further away perhaps thinking they can't attend as much.

I do think it's ridiculous that the football club get fixture precedence in a stadium that's not their own.

Yes the Friday match will probably mean home by 1am. At least I drive rather than public transport!!

The Quins game was always going to be a Sunday. When CCFC moved their match on the weekend of the Bristol match to the Sunday it was said that the agreement was an equal split of games being moved. It's our turn to play on the Sunday that weekend.

The Gloucester game hasn't been moved to avoid a CCFC game; they're away to Bournemouth that weekend.

Kind of begins to bring into question a little the value of a ST.

You made me wonder whether we were actually less predictable in terms of days and times for home games or about the same as other teams.

I wasn't sure of the answer to this so just had a quick look on the PRL fixture list.  Here's how the other teams line up in terms of consistency of home games for the first 10 Rounds.  Wasps are 2x Sat at 15:00, 1x Sun at 15:00, 1x Sun at 16:30 and 1x Friday at 19:45 so are 40% Saturday at 15:00.

Bath: 75% (3 out of 4 are Saturday at 15:00)
Bristols: 75% (3 out of 4 are Friday at 19:45)
Chiefs: 80% (4 out of 5 are Saturday at 15:00 the other is 16:30 on a Sat so basically the same)
Gloucs: 60% (3 out of 5 are Friday at 19:45 2 out of 5 are Saturday at 15:00)
Falcons: 59% (2 out of 4 on Saturday at 15:00, 1 Friday and 1 Sunday)
Irish: 60% (3 out of 5 are Saturday at 15:00 the other 2 are Sunday at 15:00)
Sale: 40% (2 out of 5 are Saturday at 17:00, the other 2 are Sunday at 15:00 and Friday 19:45)
Saints: 80% (4 out of 5 Saturday at 15:00, 1 Friday)
Sarries: 50% (2 out of 4 are Saturday at 15:00 the other 2 are Sunday at 15:00)
Warriors: 100% (All 4 are Saturday at 15:00)
Tigers: 60% (3 out of 5 are Saturday at 15:00, 1 Friday and 1 Sunday at 15:00)

Time to become a Chiefs, Saints or Warriors STH, Neils  ;D

Of course, I haven't checked how this compares to other seasons when we weren't sharing with CCFC.  I can understand why we should be playing after them if we happen to both play at home on the same weekend.  We're lucky in that other than Park Run / Kids Park Run we don't really have other commitments on weekends, so can work around fixtures.

But can totally see how if you played Sunday football, or Saturday Rugby or had minis on a particular day each week that you might struggle to get much value out of a Season Ticket vs buying individually.  I'm guessing even those who are borderline on cost of a ST vs individual tickets would likely buy a ST anyway as many seem to enjoy the familiarity of where they sit and the people they sit around.

Interesting figures.

As far as your suggestion - stuffing get comes to mind.

It's not been selected for TV. Oddly it's one of four Premiership matches kicking off in the Friday night slot that weekend. No internationals the next day other then the Barbarians v Samoa.

Look good live is on at the arena the weekend of the Glos game.

I previously had a look at the Saturday/Sunday split for Wasps’ home fixtures for the last few seasons:

  • 2018/2019 (last season CCFC played at the Ricoh): 63% of all Wasps games (Premiership Rugby, Champions Cup & Premiership Cup) were on a Saturday. The figure was 73% when just looking at the 11 PR home games.
  • 2019/2020 (first season CCFC weren’t at the Ricoh since Wasps’ move): Looking at the pre-Covid fixtures list shows that 72% of Wasps Premiership home games were planned on a Saturday.
  • 2020/2021: Just over 75% of Wasps’ home games were/are on a Saturday.
  • 2021/2022: Based on InBetweenWasp’s post only 60% of Wasps’ home games in the first 10 rounds are on Saturday.

Saturday is the worst day for me to get along, so I can cope with Friday and Sunday games very well.
