Well, that was unexpected, nicely so.

I think the final scoreline was a bit unfair to Bristol, but we took what was there and took it very well.

Given who wasn't available, given the number of new recruits, given the fact that we have more new-season rustiness than our opponents I'd say that was as good as you could expect.

Defence was superb, if that's a taste of things to come then we could be looking at a very good season.

Apart from giving away a penalty Gopps had a good solid game when he came on.  His kicking was needed as well.
