Sam Officially Retires

Very sad news. Best wishes for the future Sam. Hopefully he will get some form of compensation from the RFU, but that may never surface if he has to sign an NDA.

I wonder if this has been the delay in what I hope is the announcement we have signed Nizaam Carr. If it is, Dai may still wait a bit before announcing anything.

I've been expecting this for some time but it doesn't make the news any easier to take. So sorry for Sam. Wishing him all the very best for the future. I still think it was an absolutely unnecessary injury and I do blame Eddie Jones. He and his staff have a duty of care to every player when they are with England. I do not wish to get into an argument with certain posters, so unless there is further news I will comment no more on this subject.

Such bad bad news. Not unexpected after all this time. Wish him well for his future. I totally blame the English mis-management for this outcome and hope Sam and Wasps are well compensated. Actually quite angry and upset by this.
Let me tell you something cucumber

Sad news for Sam but with the length of time since the last update it was almost inevitable.

Wish him all the best for whatever he does next!

Someone who apparently knows one of the Wasps doctors was told that it was an absolutely freakish accident.

I cannot help feel cross about this as well. It's not the judo as much as it being the day after a premiership game. Bodies, whether professional or not, take time to recover. Add into the mix a young man out to impress, on the verge of acheiving a cap for England and it just doesn't sound ideal.

Anyway, as I say, it's just how I feel. I guess it is history now and I hope Sam finds a new and enjoyable career.

Ok, honest query, how good a source is "someone to apparently knows...."?

It's a wasps supporter who says he knows one of the doctors. I don't see how that's any less reliable than any of the other stuff that's been said and see no reason to doubt them. It's hardly an astounding claim is it?
