It also confirms what I said a few weeks ago. All the business for next year (contracts) was done and dusted by Christmas, for us and other clubs. The drip, drip of announcements is just part of the game that clubs, and players, play, to keep us hooked and listening. Lee effectively confirms that they hadn't made room in the cap for him per se, but that there IS room for a player in that position. Once Jimmy had tipped their hand, Wasps would be forced to adopt the alternative option, which would, most likely, be an incoming player.

I suspect we will see just a slow drip feed, sped only where the press get wind beforehand.

As you know in the past Wasps have preferred late or end of season announcements but contract changes are forcing their hands away from their norm. Lee said last week to expect announcements shortly and I would expect one at a time as per this week with Academy players.

Sounds like wasps were content to wait and Jimmy wasn't

Somewhat contradicts Goode’s comments the other week that this issue came down to Leicester offering a 2-year contract versus Wasps’ 1.

In light of the reduced salary cap and managing a forward-looking squad, I understand why Wasps managed the situation the way they did. Unfortunate outcome but probably the right decision.

Agreed. One of those situations where it’s the best outcome for both parties. As someone has said before Umaga/Atkinson + whoever else need to do some serious place kicking practice over the summer.

Jimmy needs to do some serious place kicking practice before next week 😉

I don't think it  was Jimmy's fault really.  The balls were so close to the posts but the buffeting wind took them off  course - tho' the first attempted conversion failure did look a bit dodgy.

Jimmy's accuracy has been tailing off the past couple of years.

Perhaps whoever isn't kicking at the time could practice catching it!
