Tight. Back row can win it for us.

Agree with this. The work Jack is doing is incredible.
I'd say generally that the defence during that first half was very good - stopping a Sale try from the driving maul and taking turnovers to stop Sale's momentum. Just need to see the scrum improve.

Let's just see what happens during the second half!

Thoughts so far.

So nice to see Crossdale back. Tough in the air, but really adding some injection of pace when coming forward.
Nice to see.

Really clever try. Our maul has got better and better.
Oghre, Shields and Stooke are the intelligence behind it, looking up and seeing what’s going on. Especially Shields.
As their players latch on to one of our players, our player then releases himself from the maul…neutering that Sale player. So there was constant peeling away (with a Sale player attached) and the maul keeps evolving and moving forward, with new players attaching. Oghre always at the heart.
I thought it was very clever.
And love to see it again.

Before the game they said Wasps were number 2 in the Premiership in ‘Red Zone Efficiency’ meaning we score a lot of tries on those final few yards.
This probably reveals the coaching strategy to not go wide, not be very creative with our backs…but just play off the pack and our number 9.
I would love to see more width next season…but it implies they have had a plan this season with the personnnel available.

One thing I observed, which is either clever…or nefarious…is Tom Curry, as our scrum gets set, vocalises VERY LOUDLY, where Wasps are going to screw up….with multiple things we might being trying to do.
A referee can’t help but consume everything he’s just said….even though it’s not directed at him.
The ref has then got all that opinion floating around his head as he watches what unfolds.
And guess what….penalty Sale.

It’s a tight, brutal game.
I would love to see the boys come through.
Tom Willis hopefully adding more beef and impact.

This doesn’t look good for Elliot, BT won’t show the replay.

Oh Mr Stooke.
You poor soul.
Horrible injury.
I feel sick.

Lee watched the replay and then went down to the pitch side.
He obviously saw something he didn’t like.

But the referee seems to think there was no fault by Sale.

We've done well there. Originally a Sale penalty, to Wasps winning a penalty at scrum time!

That's terrible for Stooke, he's been great this season.

Hope it's as benign as it can be and he makes a full and speedy recovery.

This has the potential to go horribly wrong.

Why did Sale get the throw in then? I thought it was a penalty?
