Shame for the SA vs Wales game to end with a Koch on, was hoping for a drop goal finale

Wales were abysmal for much of the game, SA really scraping the bottom too. It looked like one of those Wales England games where Wales are utter crap (TM) for 70, and no matter what the score is the match ends up really tight. Wales were the superior team by a fair margin last week, and had the brown end of the reffing stick on top, but contrived to lose. This was the adjustment demanded by the rugby gods, they were worse by some margin.

I don't think any other team bar maybe England would have had that game and result vs that SA team. France, NZ, Aus would have had higher scoring games, only Wales and England would have had such an uninspiring arm wrestle.

NZ effectively turning the red card for the tighthead into one for Savea was a massive mistake, removed a major threat to Ireland who contained everything else very well.

I don't understand what went on there, but yes a massive loss for them.

I think the starting TH was in the bin for a yellow, they bought on the replacement TH for Savea for a scrum, the replacement then got the red so the starting TH had to comeback after his yellow meaning Savea effectively gained the red card and couldn't come back.
In fact there is a case for NZ should have played with 12 briefly before the original TH returned, so all clear now!

Voluntarily taking off Savea at any time strikes me as madness.

Indeed, they couldn't have seen this outcome but as you say not having him out there as a threat is madness.

Some significant results outside of Tier 1, including RWC qualifying.

Georgia 28 Italy 19
Chile 21 USA 22 (second leg for the Americas 2 RWC spot next week)
Uruguay 22 Romania 30 (Romania sent a largely second team and had a player sent off 13 minutes in)
Namibia secured the Africa 1 spot with a win over Kenya
Hong Kong beat South Korea to qualify for the Asia/Pacific playoff against Tonga in 2 weeks time
