Yep, he was the best of the bunch. Does he have a better relationship with Charlie/Jacob by any chance?

The wording sounds like he had left, but has now re-joined and hasn't been training with the squad.
Perhaps he was hoping for some better offers, but didnt get any....?

His CV was apparently circulated around the URC teams but this would suggest no takers.

Not necessarily. He appears to have settled in the Worcester area and has outside interests that might mean he wishes to stay local.

Hasn’t he played for S Africa on the wing as well as scrum-half? Good player to have in the squad and help coach the scrum-halves.

He asked Lee to play on the wing last season.

I think he has been less influential as age has caught up with him a bit. But probably a good player to have around the squad.
