If anyone's still got BT Sport, Bordeaux Begles v Sharks is on tonight.

Tom Willis on the bench for Bordeaux.

Tom West is too good to play at Championship level.

Depending what the salary is he may be happy to have a less abrasive few seasons after a lot of concussions and injuries recently. Ealing can offer a lot after all.

Jonah Holmes was lured away from Wales to go there this season in a deal big enough to rule himself out of further Wales caps (although he was a way down the pecking order)

Not correct: https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugby-news/truth-jonah-holmes-wales-grand-25134083

One interesting thing I've noticed this year is that 2 full squads of players and coaches have been distributed across the rugby world. Famous ones we know about but there are many more and the impact on the championship and below is significant and very much to the good. Don't expect new Wasps to have an easy time and the thought of Tom West going to Trailfinders for "less abrasive" seasons is laughable.

Incidentally, there are a few statements in the middle of that Walesonline piece that may edify people a little about the Championship.

I am not downplaying the quality in the championship at all but my opinion that the levels of physicality Tom West would face there would be far less compared to what his body would be put through in training, in the Prem and in Europe, I really don’t think is a ‘laughable’ suggestion.
Maybe we might just need to find some middle ground here. I have no doubt some time in the championship would be beneficial to West physically in the same way players taking sabbaticals in Japan for example have said it has improved their longevity in the game.

Weren't there some comments from the Sarries players who stayed in the championship about the competition not preparing them for England in tge way the prem would have. Billy iirc.

Sounds like the kind of disparaging remark a Salarycens player would make.

He’s already played in the Championship for two seasons. He was essentially shaped in the Championship. Not all that long ago. And Ealing are pretty good. It’s an absolute myth that the Championship is rubbish.
