Very true. At best I think if it does happen we might have 4-5 from the current squad. The likes of Harris/Curran/Wolstenholme etc. Then, as you say, a shoestring recruitment drive is on. Albeit there are a lot of players looking for an offer right now - with probably more to come.

Any Wasps Phoenix outfit will need to have enough cash to spend on a squad decent enough to get back in the prem (plus the cash to re buy the P share, assuming it gets removed).
That said, there's a LOT of decent players looking for work, so there could be some decent championship quality players available relatively cheaply.

I would love to see a core of current Wasps players coming back from short term deals elsewhere next season but they have to be able to earn a living, it is their job after all & they have families to feed & bills to pay! I just can't see there being the money to make it feasible.

Read a few things on Jack turning down multiple Premiership offers to sign for Toulouse.

To be honest, Toulouse is that absolute dream isn’t it? What a place to go and play, even if it’s just until the end of this season!

Archie McArthur to Glos academy.

Great news for him.
Hopefully some more of these academy guys will get picked up.

Really tough for them, they have no credit in the bank anymore, no history with any academy coaches, or time invested in them, every club most likely already has a similar player of their own they’ve already been working on since they were about 15 in all the key positions,
Plus they no longer count for home grown player credits anymore for anyone.

Bacon, Tunney and Hardwick already signed at Ampthill.

Fyn Brown looks like he’s getting game time at Moseley although they haven’t announced him officially.

You would think him, as well as the U20 lads like Bell, Maasi-White, Fisilau, Cripps and Dawkins would get a shot somewhere although backrow and back three are always fiercely contested at academy level.

Feyi-Waboso would be wanted back in Wales but his move to us was due to his medical degree originally so that may take priority,

I would hope Hartley would be seen as a real steal for somewhere out there

if someone like Jack Willis goes to Toulouse you have to wonder how much he would want to return to play for a Championship side next season....

Its also interesting that on a wider front players are willing to forgo their England careers to earn more money abroad. The reduced Salary cap & the terrible finances of the prem seem to be pushing the english game the way of the SH teams with players giving up international careers to provide for their families.

Which will give the opportunity for the RFU to start giving out central contracts and deciding which games PRL games England players will be eligible for, another huge step backwards for the game at club and grass roots level.

Arguable it is a step back for clubs who are on the verge of bankruptcy.
If the rfu had contracted Joe, Jack, Tom, Dobby and paid their salaries we would have saved a million, and we only needed a couple of million in the short term for hmrc.
Better than Sarries running the game, surely?

Fisilau, Bell and Feyi-Waboso confirmed

Great news for those three, definite talents.

The article is the most sense Baxter has talked in months.
