Ref Abuse
« on: January 11, 2023, 07:47:15 AM »
There have been a few highlighted case of abuse against refs recently, the latest being the grief Barnes and his wife got after the Saffa match, and what Rassie has been doing recently.

Whilst having a look at the RFU site, to see if there was any verdict on Faz and came across a document of the match official abuse cases in community rugby, higher level of rugby incidents are covered in the normal reports.

There are some very long bans on there, quite rightly.

This has been creeping in for a while. It starts on the field. There is far too much chat to referees. There is far too much instruction from refs on the field as well. If a player says something to a ref on the field march them back 10. Do it again yellow card. It will soon stop.

You get it from fans too.
I've seen it at the Ricoh and at Adams park.

Maybe there's a difference given that the fans in the stands as a sarcastic "sir" to the end of their statements, and maybe try to avoid swearing.
However the days of the ref being the sole arbiter and his decisions being being reproach are so long gone that I can barely remember them
