Dylan cleared, free to play against Wasps

That was more like it! Bet the players feel like that as well, must be so much better for them to go through the analysis having won.

A few things that I thought, which haven't been mentioned much in threads on the other place;

Bone dry today, I am increasingly starting to think the weather has an effect on our confidence and obviously our higher risk style not suited to the wet.

I noticed a few times that Gopperth did some of those flat passes to a forward very close to contact like Cipps does.

WLR is an emotional guy, clearly getting frustrated on several occasions.

Despite the intensity, I don't recall any 'serious' injuries to Wasp players. Wonder if the lower tackles this week have helped in that.

Gopperth finally managed to hold up a guy!

I think these are announced today because it is a Friday game. Hope the news articles about injury returnees are correct.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / A Team

Have decided to go and will try and feed back as best I can. Don't be expecting too much of me though, it usually takes me a re-watch to start to get a sense of what is going on.

Will try and watch Eastgate, Umaga and Langley for you Nelly, or are you going? Interested to see how Lundberg goes.

Any tips, advice or requests welcome.

There are due to be a few players back for this game. I wonder if a few players will have picked up 'knocks' in the Bath game. Much as I love Gopperth, I would like to see next week used to try a faster 10. It's not new as mentioned before, his style doesn't suit the team, not saying they would never win or have never won, just not maximising the backs by playing to their strengths.

Changes to Champions Cup qualification means that the top seven teams go through regardless of country. The Challenge Cup winners also go through to take the 20th spot.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Balance
« on: April 30, 2017, 10:48:21 AM »
I don't like some of the comments I have read by supprters about some of our players and staff recently. I think it is driven by disappointment, emotion and maybe sometimes drink! No doubt those people will be getting back behind the team to give them support.

So in no way criticising, which would be unfair with the whopping benefit of hindsight that we have. Looking back to the start of the start of the season, all the players clicked together. Then as our new players arrived it seemed unclear how they would fit in. Discussion boards agonised how to fit all these wonderful players into the side. Perhaps they just didn't? At the start of the season the inside centre and full back were a bit thin after key players left. Kurtley Beale injured, Kyle Eastmond brought in to cover centre, but then existing players stepped up to a level, some in unexpected positions (like Gopperth) that made the original plan unbalanced. We ended up over stocked (before injury) at 12, but perhaps weaker at 13 after call ups. Then seeing how Miller stepped up at full back, Bassett going well on the wing with his deceptive strength. The discussion boards must have reflected similar difficulties at the club about where we're these new star players going to fit.

As the season went on our front row and back row took a hammering with injuries and nobody seemed to be able to fill the gap left when Daly was out. With hindsight we probably would have faired better if we had recruited a big prop and an outside centre. I do think that balance is also affected by the big salary players and the pressure to juggle players to get them on the field.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Try from a conversion?
« on: April 23, 2017, 09:24:56 AM »
Just watched Paul Sackey score a try from a Jonny Wilkinson penalty kick at goal. Got me wondering if you can score a try from a conversion attempt in a similar way like a cross field kick), or is the ball only in play if charged down or comes off a post?

Apparently some local businessmen have made an offer to Sisu for CCFC.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / What's your favourite pod cast?
« on: April 18, 2017, 09:00:26 PM »
I really enjoy the Flats and Shanks pod cast, quite like Five live, but struggling with the Egg Chasers and wish I liked Andy Goode's one more than I do.

I have a pod cast app so I can download and listen to casts on car journeys for work through the car audio.
