Wasps Rugby Discussion / Paolo Odogwu on the move perhaps
« on: May 15, 2019, 10:17:27 AM »
Rumoured to be leaving Sale, Twitter noise, don't know much about him but his place of birth is Coventry https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paolo_Odogwu and he went to KES, Birmingham.

His stats look okay but he hasn't had many starts, 15 stone and 5'9" and from what I read quick.

Have to agree with Healey here....this was a work of art, only to be ruled out by another shocking decision by a TMO, there has to be an improvement in referring standards. This is by no means an excuse for what was another poor performance after a bright start but I am outraged by this.

"Let it stand! Or I'm packing this job in"
Wasps put together a beautiful move to land a third try against Bath, only for the referee to refer to video to rule it out for a forward pass... and Austin Healey has a strong opinion on the decision.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / NFL Players Moving to MLR - MLR in general
« on: May 01, 2019, 06:55:14 PM »
Off the back of CW joining the NFL roster and Buffalo Bills, and Lasike joining Harlequins for next season. NFL players are moving over to MLR. An interesting dynamic and it will be intriguing to watch if it stops at the domestic US game or gains greater traction in the NH, and even perhaps the SH. Personally I think MLR with the right exposure and support, will go grow quickly, particularly with players like Basteraud moving there. I can see GP DoRs casting their nets further than the traditional hunting grounds and we will over time start to see players sunsetting their careers in MLR, and emerging MLR talents heading to Europe. A case of watch this space I think.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Dai on ZuZu

https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/rugby/wasps-rugby-news-zurabi-zhvania-16189044

'Wasps boss Dai Young believes the best is yet to come from powerhouse Georgian prop Zurabi Zhvania despite scoring tries in successive games.'

Couldn't agree more, for me he has been one of the stars of what has been a mediocre season at best. Let's hope he and the rest of the team go well for the last three fixtures and finish on a high, has he got any second row mates looking for a gig in England?

Wasps Rugby Discussion / European Challenge Cup - Spoiler (ish) Alert

Would it be such a bad thing for one season, what the edge of my seat was made for - La Rochelle vs. Sharks. Entertainment and incident all round, a very tight win...deciding whether to watch Quins vs. Clermont.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Additions to Squad
« on: April 18, 2019, 09:49:17 AM »
Do we think that some of the rumoured signings will be more likely now the spectre of relegation has passed. Part of me thinks that they may be waiting to see where Wasps finish and which European competition we will play in. The two I am thinking of are Dillyn Leyds and Waisake Naholo, everything appears quiet with them.

Something else that also caught my eye were the players released by Saints yesterday, https://www.rugbypass.com/news/tongan-international-nafi-tuitavake-one-of-two-players-released-by-northampton/. I was slightly surprised by Kellaway as he has looked decent, however they are probably juggling cap quotas ahead of next season.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Flats Team of The Week

We get 2 players in, Launch and Brad. Falcons get 4 in, lost at home and are rock bottom and now adrift. We pulled off one the hardest fought and inspired wins of the season, I would suggest Flatman needs a recalibration.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / OFNT for England?
« on: April 14, 2019, 07:53:53 AM »
Who witnessed the performance of our former number ten (OFNT) yesterday, on occasion flawed but largely inspirational, and pivotal in Glaws comeback. The 'no look' pass was genius. Just what England need but I fear EJ will have the same view that if he persists with a system that doesn't yield results, something will miraculously change....

Wasps Rugby Discussion / FCA launches probe into Wasps
« on: April 12, 2019, 08:22:46 AM »
https://citywire.co.uk/wealth-manager/news/fca-launches-probe-into-wasps-rugby-club/a1220168

It isn't clear what the process is, or the the potential outcome. Something we can ill afford in the season from hell.....

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has launched a probe into rugby club Wasps, according to the Financial Times.

The watchdog is trying to determine whether the 152-year-old Premiership club misled the market about the state of its finances and how quickly it rectified the situation.

According the report, the FCA has opened a formal investigation and is calling in individuals for interviews.

Both the FCA and Wasps declined to comment.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Israel Folau Sacked
« on: April 11, 2019, 11:34:00 AM »
Folau has been sacked by NSW Waratahs and Rugby Australia following his latest bigoted outburst and then blanking or refusing to engage with the authorities. Rugby Australia demonstrating clear leadership and should be applauded, it is after all 2019.

Where next for him is going to be really challenging, as he is to an extent 'damaged goods' and acquiring his services will cause major concerns for anyone associated with that club or union, in either code.
