Wasps Rugby Discussion / Injury Updates, From Coventry ET

Simpson likely to be back, TT and McIntyre rumble on and on......so at least with Robson on England duty we will not have to suffer Hampson as a starter. The head injury returns are now 10 weeks, so it is getting a little bit concerning.

I saw this on the BBC this morning, a great feel good story to start the weekend with, and yes I know it's the other code.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Vellacott on His Way?

So this looks like it will be confirmed, meaning Joe S is almost certainly off, which I am happy with, and it means we won't have to suffer Hampson as a willing but ultimately 'not good enough' stand in. I expect Porter will move up to first apprentice. Too much smoke now for there not to be a fire. Vellacott also scored a cracker at the weekend just gone.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / OT (well sort of) - Rugby United New York

Just read this https://edition.cnn.com/2019/01/22/sport/rugby-united-new-york-major-league-rugby-spt-intl/index.html , and I can't help thinking if the NFL doesn't work out for Wadey, he might end up here.

Interesting comments, so not just about geography.....

Stuart said: “There is a great deal of emphasis placed on developing young players at the club, which was fundamental in my decision to move to Bath.

"I feel there is no better place for me to learn and I have no doubt that I can make big strides forward as a player.”

Interesting if true and a leap of faith or a big gamble on Biarritz's part. There is no doubt he has electric pace and great feet.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Dai Young on WLR, Coventry Evening Telegraph

Is he staying beyond this year, hard to tell emphatically but the optimist in me thinks he may be;

"The talks I've had with Willie, he feels he owes a lot to Wasps. He came to Wasps he was out of the South African team, he didn't feel like he had a future in the South African team and through his performances at Wasps, it's got him back in the mix. So he feels he owes a bit to Wasps."

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Malakai Fekitoa ruled out for six weeks
« on: January 08, 2019, 07:23:09 AM »
https://www.skysports.com/rugby-union/news/12321/11601420/toulon-centre-malakai-fekitoa-ruled-out-for-six-weeks

A knee injury will sideline former New Zealand centre Malakai Fekitoa for six weeks, his club struggling Top 14 outfit Toulon said on Monday.The 26-year-old left the field during Toulon's Champions Cup defeat to Montpellier in December and has since undergone surgery.He has scored eight tries in 30 games since he joined the former French and European champions in 2017 after winning 24 caps for the All Blacks.

Unless we have agreed terms already which could be possible, then I would suggest we will hold off on this until more is clearly understood about the severity of the injury and recovery period. On paper it sounds minor.
