« on: December 31, 2020, 09:38:55 AM »
No,not our pair but Baxter and Simmonds
Never been comfortable with sportspeople getting OBE’s etc for doing just their job.
But thank Christ it wasn’t done for Saracens.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / British 7’s given lifeline
« on: December 22, 2020, 08:16:09 AM »
(Reuters) - Britain's rugby sevens teams have been handed an Olympic lifeline after the government helped arrange a 2 million pounds ($2.68 million) funding package, The Times reported here.
England’s Rugby Football Union ditched its sevens programme in August and told players their contracts would not be renewed due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sevens does not receive funding from UK Sport, the organisation responsible for investing in Olympic and Paralympic sports in the country, and England players launched a crowd-funding scheme in September.
However, The Times said the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) had partnered with the National Lottery to come up with the funds, which will allow the teams to compete in warm up events ahead of the Tokyo Olympics, which were pushed back by a year due to the pandemic.

No mention of potential automatic promotion so at this stage will come down to playoff final.
They have conveniently kept Saracens and Ealing separate.
Assuming Saracens make the final, what’s the potential for a load of short term loan deals to whoever they face (especially from chiefs).

Yes , that got my heart pumping too!
Fortunately, Talking Rugby Union are on about the 7’s player and not our one.
Won’t bother doing a link.
You can see not much happening at moment, waiting for the game. Think I might raid wonky’s drinks cabinet.

BRUCE JACK WINES AGREES SALE SHARKS DEAL

Bruce Jack Wines agrees Sale Sharks deal
Bruce Jack Wines has struck a deal to become an official partner of Sale Sharks.
The deal is the club's first South African agreement, with the wine partner joining on an initial 12-month deal for the 2020/21 season.
The pair will host a range of events throughout the season, with plans already in the pipeline to launch a virtual wine tasting spectacle.
The deal is part of a drive by the club to introduce more international partnerships to its commercial roster.
"It's great to be able to announce our first partnership deal with a South African-founded brand that's already so well-loved and established in the UK," said Mark Cueto, commercial director at Sale Sharks.
"We're really proud to have a strong group of South African players in the squad this season, and so to be partnering with a brand founded in their home-country is a real coup for us. It’s also the first partnership we’ve ever agreed outside of Europe."
Bruce Jack added: "As a former rugby union player and referee, I hold the values that underpin rugby very dear. While professional sport is big business, values such as teamwork, self-sacrifice, discipline and respect are as important to the core ethos of modern rugby as is commercial success.
"The energy and team at Sale Sharks have helped make this partnership a natural fit for our business."
Can’t we get an Isle of Islay signing?
