Wasps Rugby Discussion / Everybody’s Game
« on: November 26, 2020, 08:55:34 PM »
Just watched this Amazon documentary by Beno Obano.

Along with Itoje,Genge, Anthony Watson, and Biyi Alo they talk about how their got into rugby and how they hope more youngsters from their backgrounds will become aware of the game and take it up.

Well worth watching if only to see Genge being himself. About an hour long.

Brought up in Jack rested thread but worth a separate debate.

Are there any players in the current England, and let’s open it up, other 6 nations squads, that you would swap into the current Wasps main team?

Can’t think of anybody who I would swap Gopperth for.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Back in time for Christmas ?
« on: November 17, 2020, 06:03:38 PM »
BBC reporting government looking at allowing football stadiums to open in December.

But it would probably be in areas that are back in tier 1 . So if rugby was also allowed chances are Coventry would be ruled out?

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Amazon documentary

Looks like Amazon could be thinking about rugby seriously . Programme coming out this Tuesday about Pacific Islands problems. Contributions include Lima and that well known Tongan James Haskell.

Could well be worth a look even if only for those who have taken advantage of free trial.

I see they did the documentary on Tottenham. Perhaps next will be on Wasps , Great back story ,drama re training ground  Sisu etc and rumour re ineos to work on.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Jumpers for posts

...well not quite. But Amazon have announced they will be inserting cameras into the posts for the England games.

Views will also be made available for the TMO to use

Also mentions microphones will be included, so expect more apologies from commentators for the Anglo Saxon verbals on the white line

Wasps Rugby Discussion / 8 nations cup
« on: November 11, 2020, 09:19:00 AM »
Whilst looking forward to some rugby this weekend, I must admit am failing to get too excited about this, especially as it will clash with opening of Premiership season.

The Fiji games may be interesting to watch, purely because it’s a different team.

However the only one I’m looking forward to seeing, assuming it falls to form , will be Georgia v Italy in the 4th place ‘playoff’ Hopefully Georgia will have enough left at that stage to make a case for inclusion in 6 nations or possibly a 2 division Europe international competition.

Ealing are streaming their friendly with Newcastle tomorrow at a cost of £10.

Will be interesting to see if it is a success.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Pay Per View
« on: October 30, 2020, 03:27:22 PM »
With no end in sight for non attendance at games what will happen next season?

Whilst it would be great for all games to be televised (for those with right packages) as has happened since lockdown I can’t see this happening in the future, because unless clubs get extra income there could be no games to put on.

Despite the protests re pay per view at £15 per football game it’s been reported that these have averaged at around 39,000 subscriptions per game with the best attracting 70/80000.

Personally if I knew that the majority of my PPV fee was going to my club I would be happy to pay. And if it could be included in a season ticket package so PPV until crowds allowed back may help clubs further.

The only downside I can see is the longer this goes on the more we get used to it ,and may demand it continue when it gets back to normal, with smaller crowds at games.

Would you be happy to pay?
