One of the people I used to work with has a flat there.

It is owned by Loxwood Holdings which is owned by .... the Hollands.

There's nothing in that article I can disagree with.

Not interested - I'll be going to watch Ealing, both men and women.

Plenty of ex-Wasps to see there - both on and off the field of play.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: England RWC Training Squad
« on: June 30, 2023, 04:08:40 PM »
Some pointers from the training squad to what England might look like post RWC. I'd be pleased if Tom W gets to the RWC, but more expect him to be given the chance for 6Ns 2014. Post world cup. I'd be keen to see Martin involved, now he's got Prem time and has shown what he's capable of and VPR ditto. I'd hope that the indications of younger and lower/no capped players is an indication of where the team is going post WC. Hopefully England are looking at this RWC as the one off chance that it is for those who've not performed over several 6Ns back to 2020 (when it looked ok but never kicked on)

The hope is that the 2024 6Ns is taken as the start of a new cycle to RWC 2027 and that England hold their nerve as "retreating" back to players well the wrong side of 30 at the first hint of problems will only make worse, surely?

If that's true he's well and truly missed the boat :)

Biyi > Ealing.

This one was announced in France a substantial while ago.

Ealing building a team to win the Championship by Christmas.

and they're doing much the same with their ladies team - it's fast becoming the old Wasps ladies team.

Gloucester rumoured to be after Dobby? although he signed on to Pau until 2025

That's ironic!

Arundell will probably go to Brizzle, I mean if Elliott Daly is on the bench for Salarycens then surely they don't need another back 3 player?
But when money is no object having Daly and Arundel on the bench means they aren?t playing against you in 2/18 fixtures nor in the semi or final.

The only issue is what is the price to get a top international sitting on a bench and happy not starting more than 4 or 5 times a season.

I don't know anyone at Leinster to ask :)

55
Can you see the Premiership oligarchs allowing that!

56
Provided they can plan a proper season around a set number of teams, I don't think it would be a huge problem. The issue come swhen you planned for 13 and end up with 11.
If you can plan a season for 10, or 8, you can arrange other competitions or block out rest weeks etc to make it work.

Yes, but there's still the problem of those Clubs that remain getting enough income to make them profitable, or at least not making too much of a loss that causes their benefactors from pulling out.

57
One advantage that LW had was that the "first team" was never really divorced from the rest of the Club, so they had a ready made home they could play at, with a reasonable supporter base that continued to support them.

Although we kept close ties with Wasps FC, especially before the move to Coventry, we were effectively a different Club.

There will be four:

Saracens (because they obviously have the incriminating photos, otherwise they would still be demoted)
and 3 with billionaire owners.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Derek makes an appearance
« on: May 19, 2023, 10:44:38 AM »
Would really like to hear from Derek.
He will be a guilty party for me until he speaks. An explanation or apology will do, just not silence, which feels incriminating. I am sure he has a story to tell which puts him in good light but 167 people lost their jobs and thousands their club, silence is not the way.

I've spoken to him about this, it is coming. But it is connected to the current legal proceedings so he has to be very careful not to prejudice the case. I think it's fair to say he wants the truth out as much as anyone.

I have spoken to many of the former employees (players/coaching side), and  the vast majority do not blame Derek, other than to say he was too trusting of those he employed  to run the organisation. The one name, in the blame game, that keeps coming up though was the main driver in the move to Coventry, and was a former Finance Director at the RFU.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: It?s over?

Having talked to several former players the impression I get is that they needed to find ?2.75million in image rights payments alone. Who is going to put that up as a "loss leader" to start a "company" that is subject to such vagaries as being involved with the PRL/RFU. Only billionaires who want a loss making ego project as a way to avoid paying money to the tax man.

One plus (if anything in the current situation can be referred to as a plus) is that they are under no obligation to remain in the Midlands, so can legitimately return to the London area.

In my view the best thing would be to re-unite with Wasps RFC and use the current first team as a basis for the push upwards, saving 3 or 4 seasons :(
