Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Dai chopped!!

It's possible that this is a move to a more managerial role for the future, a partial leave of absence (medical or otherwise), or the precursor to him moving on fomr the club.

If it's the latter, than I don't think I'd be too surprised; something needs to change, and with the safety net preventing relegation for us this season, it would makes some sense to act now and get as much time as possible to assess suitability of current coaches to step up, or scout out someone from outside the club.

My query is who can we get to replace him? #ReturnOfGatland  ;D

The level of mental gymnastics to try and paint their club as victims, finger pointing to try and deflect focus onto other clubs who may or may not have breaches in their records, and the inability to recognise and accept the impact and severity of what Saracens have done, makes the vocal segment of their fans look very, very bad.

The club's refusal to come clean, admit that what they did was both wrong and intentionally done, is damning. Even if (And it would have to be a very generous if) you give them the benefit of the doubt after the initial investigation a few years back; for them to have not just continued down this path, but to have doubled down and seemingly got worse, speaks volumes about the organisation.

This isn't the odd extra tenner, here and there. This is a conscious, concerted and deliberate effort to circumvent the rules of the competition that they agreed to play under. It has been going on for YEARS. Refusing to open their books for an audit just underlines that they have further secrets to hide. Financial doping is still doping.

Sarries titles should be voided.  They were not won fairly, and no-one sane rugby fan will ever see them as champions for those seasons.

Not sure another points deduction is appropriate/sufficient.

If there's still a chance they might still stay up, then they'll manage it, by playing their (Still!) salary cap breaking squad. Automatic relegation would be a more effective punishment for the whole affair.

Maybe play out the remainder of their fixtures, Sarries can earn no points, but opposition teams can, to avoid the matches being dead rubbers.

Did find myself wondering if Sarries might talk to their players who are likely to retire, or be out of contract, at season end and say "Look, we're not going to offer you a new deal, but if you take a hit on salary now; after you leave and are no longer affiliated with the team, we'll issue a make-up payment to bring you back to what was previously agreed"

Could quite easily see them looking to find some loophole like that, given their previous shenangians.

I'm Dan, been a Wasps supporter since 1999 when my then-employers were one of the sponsors and I used to see the lads around work pretty regularly.

Used to consistently get down to Wycombe for games, less so towards the end of the run there. Haven't made it up to Cov as yet, due to not driving and the travel time being so long for me (even if the stars align and all the trains are in sync). Now living staggering distance from the Stoop but steadfastly refuse to switch allegiance, much to my mates' amusement.

Away from rugby I'm a big fan of the NFL, specifically the Carolina Panthers, with side affection for the Bears and Seahawks, I enjoy watching baseball too (Thank heavens for BTSport showing so many games!) and am a fan of gaming, both tabletop and console.
