Elliott Stooke has signed. The big lump we have all been wanting. https://www.wasps.co.uk/news/wasps-sign-bath-lock-elliott-stooke/
-
Are we moving there now?
-
Ah changed the heading from Stoke :) :) :)
-
Great news and welcome Elliott.
-
Well that was the best kept secret!
-
Solid Rowlands replacement. Right age, right experience and probably available all season.

Great addition and good signing but is he a step up from Will Rowlands? Not sure.

Honestly, this board can be hard to please at times. Given Lee's comments about a lack of options on the market at the moment due to many players extending contracts in the midst of the pandemic, I think a 27-year old, big physical lock on the fringe of the wider England squad is a bloody good acquisition to backfill Rowlands leaving.

Took the words right out of my mouth, IBW.

And a second.

Great signing, but I do wonder if the reason they held off announcing it when everyone really knew already was because they knew full well we weren't likely to turn our form around. I wonder if we'll get a signing announced after every disappointing loss...

You know it isn't Wasps thing to announce signings during the season apart from around January or when somebody like Fiver announces he isn't signing. Lee was asked last week specifically about signings and said four were done but would be announced shortly - this the first. Do wonder if it is going to be a week of announcements.
A signing for every disappointing loss - christ we would have a full replacement squad by now.

Great signing, but arguably we need 2, esp with Launch out till 2022 possibly.

Sounds like they're working on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLypFGf0HqM

Great signing and I’m glad the video of the press conference has surfaced so I can try an interpret what was going on better.
Stooke signed as a front line second row. Looking for another front line second row and another squad second row as well as a line out option back rower.
Significant strengthening of the pack to happen over the next two seasons
Sounds good to me, just need some defensive systems in the backs and we might be fine

Agreed

Linked with Toulon but nothing concrete, I would class him a first line Lock https://www.rugbypass.com/news/disappointed-connacht-confirm-ireland-lock-quinn-roux-is-leaving/, and will certainly provide us with some height...6 foot 6.

I was thinking someone like Vaea Fifita, but would prefer someone less expensive (I sound like I work for the club there). Really aren't too many obvious options out there.

Isn’t Ryan leaving Racing too this summer?
Agree there is not many about but there is always a South African around that can be tempted north - or South a little if Sale are getting rid of any
Not sure about any more NZ imports - not sure if they’re offering the best value for money

Ryan said to be returning to the mother Isle.

Raised my hopes and dashed immediately. Oh well.

Happy with this signing.
Rowlands for me is the biggest loss of the confirmed departures so far. So to get someone who is a couple of years younger, who likes the rough stuff and has a good injury record as a replacement is good business.
With the talk of another front row SR and squad SR coming in to go with the developing Cardell and Jaina we sound quite well stocked for next year! :)

Still think an abrasive Saffa or two would do us no harm.

With you on that and they can't be Eddied.
-
They can if they are uncapped and have English parents, grandparents or have lived here for 3 years...

Well we better pick correctly then. :)
