Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Rumours thread

Would be really disappointed to lose Brad. I'm not sure how much he'll be included in the EPS moving forward with the emergences of Ludlam, Willis and Ben Earl (getting predictably hyped up). So Brad could potentially be available a lot more than assumed when we first signed him

I think Brad would be a great shout for Captain next season. In the absence of Launchbury, he's exactly the on field leader we've been craving. Yes YY and Willis made a devastating partnership, but can't play every game together. Just look at Bath, it's taken them 2 years to get their first choice backrow playing together due to injuries. So I don't want to dismiss Brad based just on one partnership. We're a better squad with Brad in it than out of it so I would say he's worth retaining

If we lost Brad I'd be actually pretty gutted.

+1
Good captain material from what I have seen on him. Some have suggested Willis. Willis is excellent player and is best to focus on that. Also Captain needs to be both repected AND liked by the other players.
+1.
We need to retain as many high quality back row operators as possible.
Jack’s playing style means he is likely to get injured again very soon so we need others to step in when necessary. Back row players are best rotated to allow for some recovery time.

Probably the best Wasps have played at the Ricoh this season?
We should have taken all 5 points but 4 tries and 2 bonus points isn’t too bad.
We are far too good to be relegated.
When we get the big boys back we will be ok.
Congratulations to the youngsters West, Thibaud and Jacob - they were all excellent.

So if we're saying Shields, Willis and Carr are our best back row combination with Smashley on the bench where does Young fit in?

Given the style of game that we showed for 20 mins v Quins and in the second half v Briz then the Willis/Young/Carr combo is best suited for it. If we get drawn into slugfests then Shields and Ash have to come into the mix. Vailanu does not yet have the all round game to nail on the 8 shirt.

Agreed, but hopeful that Sione may develop into the all round 8. He is a real physical presence and I can see him developing into a more fully capable player.

I cringed when Sione launched himself into the last ruck of the game and took someone out. I thought Luke Pearce was going to penalise him. Was he lucky?

Tight game but the squad dug deep for the win.

Wolstenholme, Miller, JTA showed their experience. Some of the youngsters showed up well.

Nice to see Derek and a large number of first teamers eg Brad Shields, Zak, Tom Willis, Biyi, Juan, Tim Cardall there.

Well done fellas.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Bristol interested in Cruise
« on: December 23, 2019, 02:40:00 PM »
Cruise desevres to move to a proper rugby club that has a DoR and coaching staff that know their arse from their elbows. Fantastic player.

Half hope he goes and achieves something as Wasps under Dai and Costlleo are only going one way.

Find alot of the criticism of Searle incredibly harsh, he's fresh off a major injury. Before hand he was starting ahead of our big money All Black (who many on here for some reason still rate) on merit.

Given the incredible amount of slack Lima has been given the treatment Billy is getting from some fans is ridiculous.
Hoping NY brings a new narrative Bracken?
No one has rinsed Searle, don't over egg it, most have just not been convinced and he hasn't received 10% of the negativity Lima has. Try sticking to the facts. Merry Xmas

A big +1

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Wasps Second Hotel
« on: December 11, 2019, 07:26:46 PM »
It sounds very exciting but I’m unsure why the club would want to invest/build a hotel at great cost - that won’t provide any revenue anytime soon - when the accounts suggest they need to tighten their belt and address financial losses?

Can anyone explain please?

« on: December 06, 2019, 11:05:41 PM »
I thought we were awful. Miserable night.

Edinburgh wouldn’t have lived with the Wasps team of three seasons ago.

Robson looks to be injured, under powered up front, Theo looked to be out of his depth, the line out was poor, Bassett’s performance showed why he hasn’t been getting a game, it’s difficult to believe that Lima, Malakai and JTA have a shed load of All Black caps.

Huge credit goes to the waspies that made the journey. Derek must be worried. Dai doesn’t appear to know what to do to turn things around.

Rant over.

The protest has been hijacked by CCFC’s Wasps haters who reside on SBT and have probably never been to Henley in Arden.

Their concern is not about the existing users losing their sports and leisure facility but about Wasps finding an ideal training base and prospering.

Why they would protest about the College group selling off a facility that is haemorraging money is beyond me.

It’s hilarious that the majority of signatories to the petition are from c.18 miles away in Coventry, Sisu lovers, hate Wasps, never used the facility and have probably never set foot in Henley in Arden.

I feel sorry for those genuine facility users whose moderate campaign has been hijacked by these jokers.

Great news for Jacob.

It’s probably time to tie up Thibaud too before someone else snaps him up.
