Wasps Rugby Discussion / Problem.
« on: September 17, 2022, 07:36:40 PM »
I think a few have alluded to it but it’s now become reality. How many points are we going to lose through kicking inadequacy this season. For me, although Atkinson looks a good 10, the turning point today was our penalty miss (basic kick) followed by them taking one. We’re clearly not in a position to counter this by scoring endless compensating points and as such I fear that we’ve got another issue (amongst quite a few others) this season.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Recruitment freeze lifted

Blackett confirming in the CET today that he can make signings again now if he wants to. Nothing confirmed as imminent - just the availability. Good news in itself and also conveys good overall news re finances.

Some good news. He’s joined as senior academy forwards transition coach. Will bring some good energy I feel.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / CBS half year results
« on: August 02, 2022, 10:03:26 PM »
First half of 2022 sees a huge profit rise for CBS as they record six month profits of £158m. Stadium sponsorship is obviously suiting them!

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Next season
« on: July 15, 2022, 12:12:51 PM »
Wonder what others think about how next season will pan out. Most recruitment is probably done for most teams (hopefully we’ll add a couple) so who will finish where. I can’t see Bath being as bad as last year but I think there may be a bit of disruption to this years top 4. For us I’m confident we’ll do a deal better than last year but without seeing how our backs go I can’t go top 4. My prediction is:
Saracens
Quins
Gloucester
Tigers
Wasps
Sale
Exeter
Bath
Saints
Bristol
Irish
Falcons
Worcester

Pretty much as expected. But how on earth can Malins be left out.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Prem final. Spoiler alert.
« on: June 18, 2022, 05:50:09 PM »
Deserved win for Tigers in an absorbing but poor quality final. Big arm wrestle broken up by endless kick tennis - is it what people want to watch? Tigers won’t care. Not sure how long Barnes can get away with being so poor - he was absolutely dreadful.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Is it too late to get Brown?
« on: June 14, 2022, 05:40:57 PM »
Keep reading how Mike Brown is off here and there but as far as I know he’s still not signed for anyone. I’d offer him a 2 year deal in the blink of an eye. I think he’d be perfect for us at the moment. Don’t know if anyone has picked up a definite destination for him?

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Thanks!
« on: June 04, 2022, 07:08:27 PM »
End of another season. Feels like an appropriate time to put out thanks to all you fellow Wasps who make this an informative, interesting and enjoyable forum. The first place I go for Wasps news and the opinions I respect as informed, realistic and genuine. Special kudos to those who give up time to monitor and moderate as well as solve any IT issues. Look forward to more of the same over the summer and into next year. Exciting times await!

JTA confirmed as heading to Ulster. Interesting how many are heading to the URC. That’s Fifita, Fekitoa, JTA and Young. Good luck Jeff.

By no means an official confirmation but according to the bookies Launchbury and Barbeary make the England squad for the summer. No surprises anywhere else according to them.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Our backs
« on: May 14, 2022, 07:57:11 PM »
Dangerous to assume but with what we’ve got and what we’re adding we look set to have good forward options next year. Backs have come in for criticism recently. We’re adding Hayden-Wood, Odendaal and Hartley but losing Gopperth, Fekitoa, Anderson and probably Miller.  Is a feasible back line of Atkinson, Robson, Bassett, Odendaal, Spink, Odogwu, Umaga capable of being the solution? Do we need to add anyone else? Is it coaching and not players? Who else might come and go and will that make a difference. It’s an extremely odd situation for us to be wondering how we remedy a backs problem but it seems that’s where we are. So how do we do it?
